Tail conversion on gen 1 to gen 2

I have a gen 2 tail which i plan on putting on as soon as the riding season ends. I'm hearing 2 different things about the conversion. I've heard the rectifier has to be relocated so it can catch wind to cool it down. Is this true? I also had someone tell me that the gen 1 latch cable isn't long enough to reach on the gen 2 tail. The gen 2 tail I got did not bring one. Is this true?

Yes you need the gen2 cable latch, it is a lot longer. You can kept my rectifier inside the rear cowl.
