Intersting answers. I knew some would ride with tunes and some not. I really like, and for some reason, I rarely turn on the stereo in my truck while driving. Like I said, get into a groove with a good song and before you know it your cruising on down the road.

Did Hal vote for the 8-track?

James Lisa & I always ride w/ music. Our new Scala2 has a spot for the Ipod & it mutes the music automatically when you are talking, or on the phone.

Haven't tried it yet. I don't have an iPod but I do have a Dell Axim that i use for gps on a stem mount. It will also play mp3's. If I can find some bluetooth headphones/speakers, I will give it a shot.

I use mine constantly, I only feed music to the left ear and can hear my surroundings just fine.

I like riding with music but it depends on the distance and whether it is worth the trouble. I have some earphones with the wrap around plastic things that help keep them in place so putting the helmet on does not loosen them. Nothing worse than a wayward earphone inside the helmet.

I liked those earbuds Spudley mentioned, i will have to find some.

As for hearing my surroundings its mostly the sound of wind and I "feel" what the bike is doing and how the motor is running so that is not an issue. I am concerned about the legal thing so another chore to put on the list is research the local laws.

James...

I plug my iPod into my Chatterbox, which has speakers in the helmet, which allow ambient noise in, as well...NO EAR-BUDS. (Aside from that, ear-buds are illegal, here in Cali.) But with the Chatterbox speakers, you can still hear your machine, and everything else going on around you... Additionally, the speakers, properly placed, reduce wind-noise.

Highly recommend this set-up for anyone who wants a continuous sound-track doing what they love best (well, maybe second-best ).

As you may be able to see in the attached pic, I velcro the iPod to my tank bag, allowing me to navigate across tracks. One thing I don't ever do, is look at the iPod screen. If the song that comes on is not to my liking, I simply reach up, advance to the next tune, and keep rolling...don't even have to look at the little music-maker...but practice and familiarity with this function is paramount.

Now I might go for that. Ear buds are just too unsafe for me.

I tried the chatterbox speakers... yuk.... zero sound quality IMHO...

the rare times I run with music, (mostly on long trips) I want good quality..
The chatterbox sounded a bit like a glorified AM radio in my ear...

Im not a big music fan, actually not a music fan at all, so no, never. I wear ear plugs and focus on what I'm doing, what gets through the plugs is music enough for me, no electronic induced racket needed.

Usually no, but I did for the trip to Eureka Springs and back for the M&G. Glad I did too, it helped the 750 mile ride on Sunday go faster! :beerchug:

I sing to myself while riding after a while. The acoustics in my helmet are amazing, HA HA!

The problem is that I am a lousy singer that can only remember part of the lyrics of a song that is stuck in my head...???
