Radar/Laser Jammers

Cops have been everywhere as of late and I like to ride a little on the fast side, so...

What are your guys experiences running jammers, and in what general areas? (I assume that different areas would have different usage, such as more laser than radar or vice versa).
 
Radar jammers are a SCAM. They simply don't work.
Laser jammers do work under the right conditions but imo they're not worth the limited protection they offer.
 
Radar jammers are a felony offense everwhere that i am aware of and the dont work.Laser jammers are legal in many states check with your state for laws and they do work on the majority of laser guns in current use.Go to radarbusters.com for all the info you could ever want on detectors, jammers,stealth coatings ect.Get a good detector and get the h.a.r.d. system for your helmet treat every alert like a true radar/laser warning and you shouldn't need a jammer.I have a escort 8500 x-50 and love it it has saved my butt more than once

It has paid for itself no doubt.There is no guarantee you wont get nailed but sure does reduce the chance.It is like my american express card i never leave home without it

take it from a truck driver that drives over a 150000 miles a year who has run jammers to scanners jammers dont work ...
but i will tell you i got into more trouble running detectors jammers etc it gives you a fals sense of security but to each his own

I need to get the h.a.r.d system but I too have the escort (blue) and it's saved me 2x's on the bike and once in the truck. I am using my mp3 speaker headset for now. As long as I have someone I can keep in sight that's speeding I'll lay the hammer down. My Harley buddy loves it when we come home from Galveston...the trip home is always faster.

I looked at the Valentine loved the arrows for direction but did not like the xtra money he wants for it.

Ok... the truth about jammers.... there are two... passive and active... the passive ones are the ones that dont work. The active ones have been known to work but they are the ones that are illegal everywhere. The LEO shoots your headlight or any other flat object on your bike/car. Radar can hit anything on your bike as it is not a light source.

The best radar detector on the market is the Escort/Passport 8500 X50.

You will have to make or buy a mount for your bike and hardwire... Good luck

I have (in my unmarked both Radar and VASCAR) There is no way to beat VASCAR. What I am saying is be smart and when you ride be aware where officers could be hiding.

VASCAR is a mobile system and I nab plenty o ppl driving past me. I really think those detectors are crap.
Also when I run Radar, I run it it standbye mode. When you get a signal, you already have a ticket.

Any questions or arguments I will be glad to entertain.
P.S. There are many idiots out there that are not very adept at traffic enforcement, however, When you have someone that knows what they are doing, then your gonna get tapped.

well since u are a COP and say they are WORTHLESS, i will disagree with you on the value of a radar detector.
Once AGAIN i will explain how the whole thing works.
What MY radar detector is looking for is for YOU as a COP to hit that car half a mile or better ahead of me. When u do that my detector does it's thing. by the time i come by, you light ME up i will be at speed. I have seen my detector start to go off at over a mile before i see the leo sitting alongside the road taking pictures.
If u are the only one around and u get hit then YES you are nailed.
But as long as i have had mine, maybe over a year i can say that it has saved me from a ticket about 6 or 8 times, guaranteed.

that POLICE bike is so sweet! I would love to be a motor cop on that thing... I was in LE at one time but Kweave has a sweet car... undercover cars are awsome! Like he said.. be smart... radar detectors do give some notice in traffic. Kweave is right tho... Laser is impossible to beat under most circumstances... what everyone needs to really worry about is the AIRPLANE ticket! That is the one that sucks! I went for two days traveling at the speed limit... coming home on an open stretch I sped up not really realizing it and got pulled over by a car looking just like Kweave's car after the AIRPLANE told him my speed (12 over). Just went to court today and got it reduced to not having a license on me (which I did just a plea bargin).. I was lucky this time due to a great driving record
 
The real deal is a good attorney. Here in Washington we have an attorney that beats 99% of all speeding tickets no matter how they catch you. I have beat every ticket since I got turned onto this guy and since, I have turned many of my friends onto him. He has not lost a single ticket for me or any of my friends. He told me his best run was winning 831 tickets before loosing one. Any radar ticket can be beat and he says he has never lost an airplane ticket. I got nabbed doing a wheelie on the freeway and he beat that one. The guy is incredable. He says that using the radar gun in standby mode as Kweave does is the easy ones to beat as the radar gun manufacturer themselves recommend you don't give tickets when using the standby mode. For whatever reason it has an effect on the accuracy. However, the police will never tell you the truth about such things.

I think people get confused how RADAR works. One thng is RADAR corrobarates the officers speed estimate. I have to make a visual estimate of the vehicles speed independent of the radar.
(If anyone wants to test me I will take them out on the Road and will let them test me. I can get the speed of a vehicle within +/- 5 mph. That is mandatory in NC)
So I am not just turning it off and on standby. When I cut it on I am locking it in and getting ready to write a ticket.
VASCAR is a time distance computer (lidar is laser)
VASCAR doesnt give out a signal. I can put out predetermined distance marks and sit on the overpass and click you off as you go by. ( hint: look out for white lines that run perpendicular to the road, or hash marks like on a football field.
Im just saying know what to look for and you will come out better than depending on those things.

Quite simple: "Any device that interferes with a frequency that is licensed to Public Safety (federal or local) is a federal offense." Now that applies to RADAR and radio, but Laser isn't a licensed frequency, it's light. So you can do something about that, if you know how.

I occasionally ride with a cop.  He recommends using a detector (where legal to use, of course).  While it might not save you from "instant-on" radar guns, a detector can detect "over spray" of the radiation the gun produces.  So if you're back behind the victim, or catch a reflection, you'll get notified.  And true, VASCAR can't be detected by a radar detector.  As noted above, look for road markings.

Trick is, think like a cop.  Where would a cop hide to detect you speeding?  And think ahead.  Hang left, (vehicles block radiation), pass right.
