Quick shifter install

Ok, I'm trying to install the dano's performance quick shifter. It seems my shift rod is to long. 6.25" vs 5.89" stock length. Then the switch is to fat to fit near the front, it hits the frame. Finally my rod eyes threads are shot. Where can I find more of those and what is the correct thread and stud size? My upgrades are not going well today.

Do you think this will be okay? There is 0.243" not engaged of a total of 0.489". Otherwise the quick shifter switch hits the frame.

Eh, it was the "chrome" frame cover. I think I've got it cleared now.

Had to remove the foam padding behind the frame cover. Then I hot glued the cover to the frame. This gave me enough clearance for the shifter switch. Hopefully the glue holds up.
