The owner's manual says you should change the oil BEFORE putting the bike away for the winter, then it says to change the oil again before fitting out in the spring.
Can that be right? Sounds like wasteful overkill to me. Or maybe it's a misprint.
Not a misprint. Always change the oil before you park anything for an extended period. Once the motor has been run it starts to collect acids & other nasty remnants that are not good for your motor. Then in the spring, change the oil again to get rid of any condensation that will collect in the crankcase.
