Will see how I go. If the blue 2026 Special Edition is coming to New Zealand I think I will have one. The only bike I had that I regret selling was a 2016 GSXR750R. They can't sell the 750 in NZ anymore but I just spied the 40th anniversary 1000 in yellow. Hmmmm. I was thinking I need a Busa as I am going to have to do some frequent long distance work on a boring road and my current S1000R kills me after three hours in the saddle. Maybe the thou will work................
Welcome! Where in NZ are you? @Kiwi Rider lives on the South Island.

Ok guys I am 47 and I had a Gen 1 about 15 years ago. I am now currently looking at buying a new 2026. However my wife says "you are 47 you have no business riding a Hayabusa" So I need some ammo here... Where are all my older busa riders at?? check in with your age if you don't mind... :D

Thanks
48 soon, from Sweden. First Busa 2005, bought the second one 2007 and she's still my baby. Got an exhaust fan in 2015 from MC-XPRESS and has unfortunately a lot of other mods/butchering. But she is exactly as I want her.

Go for the Gen 3.and live life, it's beautiful!

I am at the south end of the South Island. Draw a line from Dunedin to Queenstown and the bit below it is my playground.
I'm sure @Kiwi Rider will jump, but he's in Darfield. A mechanic by trade, he spends a lot of time educating us on ways to fix our issues.

62, with a list of heath issues like a medical dictionary.

The Gen-3 is the reason a Busa is my main bike. Love the better bars, cruise control etc, I wanted to own it from new. If there was no Gen-3 I’d still be happy to own a Gen-2 or B-King but my main bike would be something different. Probably a GSX1000 tourer or a Ninja 1100 or something more upright with box’s. Neither of it’s real alternatives, the H2 SX SE or the ZX14R suit my needs. I love my B-King and Gen-2 but they are quite dated now and not 100% what I want.

A brand new bike with cruise control means it’s a Gen-3 or something quite different.

I rate my bikes with one simple question, if it’s crashed or stolen today, what do I buy tomorrow. The Gen-3 is rare for me as it’s one of the few bikes I’d buy another the same tomorrow if I didn’t have one.

Yo brother!
I love the central otago and Southland roads and area in general… my daughter lives in Queenstown and I go stay with her occasionally… beautiful town but unfortunately extremely over populated for the small town infrastructure and EXPENSIVE to live there.. otherwise I’d be there in a heartbeat lol.
I’m in Darfield Mid Canterbury, life is nice and slow packed in a farming service community of only 3000 people, zero crime and wide open rolling countryside with the Alps and West Coast a stones throw away!
I’m 67 and semi retired, still working on bikes for my mates rental bike company, choose my own hours and ride every day I can.
Which town do you live in?

50 years old here and purchased a 2024 25th anniversary! Then I decided I had to also have a gen 2 and found a good deal on a 2013 with 1,500 miles on the clock. My Wife says I look younger on a Busa and I have to say it sure makes me feel young again! Go for it and enjoy life because it’s too short to sit on the sidelines. If your leg can swing over the seat then you are NOT too old brother!

Nice to virtually meet you. I live in Mosgiel but split my time between there, Queenstown and bike free Stewart Island where I am right now. Was in touch with Suzuki NZ this week to see if the Special Edition is coming to NZ and am told it is but am now having second thoughts. It looks fantastic to my eyes having grown up with blue and white GSXR's but it is perhaps just too recognisable as a big bright blue bike. Thoughts are that these days a cop going the other way doesn't even need to turn round and chase you, they just get the camera footage from up the road for the big bright blue bike, get your rego then come and pay you a visit. Trying to decide whether to do the SuzukiFest special and get a less obvious green one. Got to be harder to *555?

Recently semi retired (or repurposed as I am told) so no more commuting and daily riding. Getting soft having ridden daily for over 30 years, even in Dunedin weather. My daughter started at Lincoln last week and I am not sure that my S1000R is the best bike for the absolute trudge north of Oamaru. Think my arse will fall off before Ashburton.

Great reply!
The S1000R is not the bike for long straight roads lol.
Sounds like you’re a dyed in the wool serious biker riding daily in Dunedin winters. The Canadians here (Bill aka Bumblebee)are laughing right now . . . “Pfffft.. minus 4 deg, that’s a heat wave here in a Toronto winter!”… to be fair, they stash their bikes away for 6 mths of the year lol.
I’ve never been to Stewart Island but it’s on my bucket list for sure, getting across the Foveaux strait is a worry tho lol.
You’ll love the Gen 3 Busa.. great bike and does it all.
Keep posting mate, there’s a good vibe going on here on the org, a lotta great guys with lots of knowledge to share.

Bought a place here ten years ago and have seen some rough crossings with a 75 percent vomit rate. Plane only takes 15 minutes. 1950's era Norman Islander, the same as this one on Stuff today trying to get on the ground in Wellington - Stuff
