Hi,  I'm new on this forum.  I just bought a 2005 Hayabusa yesterday.  I've been riding a Ninja 650R, but am selling it.  My question is this:  How quickly will the Busa do a wheelie by accident.  I have been very gentle on the throttle so it won't do it.  I don't mind a little wheelie here or there, but I don't want it to pop way up suddenly or come over backwards on me.  I haven't really felt the power of the bike yet because of that.  Any thoughts from those of you who have ridden them long?

Patience - the "butt-puckering" power is there - ease into it.  Thanks to the long wheel-base, the Busa is not a wheelie-monster, but make no mistake about it, the Busa will stand up on demand...

how much do you weigh?

I am 230 and as long as I am up against the tank, the front stays down, slide back 2 or 3 inches and it comes up but very controllable.. these motors do not "zing" up to rpm like the smaller engines and doubt you are going to get caught too off guard..

Pics??

What he said... I weigh 255-260. Keeping up over the tank and she is stable. I have let her catch me off guard on occasion and pulled the wheel while nearly dumping myself off the back were it not for the hump.
If you are careful you should be fine.

Welcome to the board. Post up some pics of the bike.

When I first got mine I pulled a low wheelie by accident while accelerating in first, I did not know what I had done until I thought back about it. I am 235-240lbs. and it had no problem pulling the front up on a hard steady acceleration.

be careful and enjoy.

Welcome to the board! Don't worry about wheelies. You have to be trying to stand it up for her to do it. Just be cautious in 1st gear. Any others, your safe. Be careful and ride safe.

I'm 180lbs and no big surprises yet. Lean forward, toes pointed down and (roll) the throttle open opposed to (snapping) it open and don't be afraid to open that baby up! You'll get the hang of it. enjoy.

I weigh 215 pounds. So you don't think it's going to surprise me and flip over backwards even if I get on it hard. If it would just slowly come up so I had plenty of time to back off, that would be fine. I'll try to post a picture of it.

Rolling burnouts to wheelies are the Busa's speciality.

He now stands in the driveway an drools while staring at bike.... We were looking at treatment but he seems to enjoy it so much that it is best just to let him be...

Unexpected wheelies should not be a problem if you don't snap open the throttle, but you want to be careful with breaking the rear tire loose and having it step out on you putting you in a highside. Especially with cool or cold weather.

Just take it easy until you get used to it, before long you'll be asking what you can do to make it faster.

when i FIRST rode mine i was prepared for the massive power she had and still she was more than i imagined. i'm glad i was cautious when starting off. respect her and she'll be a pussy cat. as far as wheelies...i dont open the throttle that hard to know. i'd believe what the fellas say is true if you grab a hand full of throttle she'll come up.

If you use a steady pull on the throttle opening (speed is not a factor, smoothness is), you'll NEVER wheelie ! Just don't pop the throttle WIDE OPEN with a giant jerk

or you'll wheelie in a nano-sec. and make you eyes go
