Will you people quit crying already my gosh. Tailgating happens, I've tailgated a couple folks like that cop with a little road rage for camping in the left lane. Feel free to brake check. Ironically enough, it is safer to tailgate at 3 feet bumper-to-bumper than 20 feet, both will result in a collision, one will have more force.

I would bet hard money the folks crying in this thread don't leave two seconds between the care ahead of them on the highway

It is not about supporting a cop or supporting doing something illegal, it is about supporting someone doing what was nescessary.

I was in a restaurant one time where a guy was verbally abusing his girlfriend. several people were shushing but he ignored them. He got louder and more abusive and eventually it got physical. He threw a glass of water in her face. One guy got up and dragged him outside and pushed him on the ground while threatning him (assult and battery). The abusive boyfriend left and everyone in the restaurant cheered when the guy (hero and perpetrator) came back in.

I ask you this, were the restaurant patrons wrong for supporting or feeling good about a guy who did something illegal while doing something good?

And for all we know that "boyfriend" went home and beat the living sh^t out of her for him being embarrassed in the restaurant..
That's how those type of people work, and I'm sorry for getting off topic because this is a totally different situation than what we are debating here. If anyone has ever dealt with a spousal abuser you'd know that beating them up is only hurting the person you think you are helping. VERY rarely will this do any good. Gee, just like tailgating! Maybe this does come full circle!

And by your logic there, shouldn't the cop have pulled the guy over, yanked him out of his car, and beat the crap out of him?

EXACTLY! For all we know that guy in the left lane was passing cars like crazy until he saw the cop in his mirror, then decided to slow down like we all do, and then the video started, and here we are..

The truth is, while I applaud the Officer's actions, by tailgating so closely he increased the POTENTIAL to cause an accident. What if it was a old man/lady, who panicked when they looked up and saw the cruiser RIGHT behind them, and jammed the brakes in panic? I"m certain the officer has trained for that, and probably had his foot on the brake pedal, but the potential still existed. Yes, by the book he should have flipped lights at safe distance and not tailgated, but I'm still glad he moved that car over. Let's not all overreact.

Not sure if we are over reacting... The debate became over the safety or lack thereof in the actions of the cop.... Definitely unsafe.... The 2 second rule applies to cops too!!!

I can't speak for Cap, but I certainly have no issue with what the cop did.
Actually, that's not quite true: he should have pulled that fool over and fined the hell out of them for impeding traffic.
