I picked up my 2004 Busa last Friday and just wanted to stop by and say hello.  My name is Ken and I live near Marietta Georgia.  I am enjoying the heck out of the bike and look forward to getting to some of the mods.  I also have a 2005 Triumph Rocket so I guess you can call me a speed junkie.  I feel like I have the best of both worlds in the Rocket and Hayabusa. Please excuse the quality of this picture, I couldn't find the camera so I took the photo with my phone.  Rider safe all.

Nice bikes! How is that Triumph for power? We all know the Busa has enough. Congrats and welcome to the board!

Thanks for the welcome guys. I have been looking at this site for the past couple of weeks but waited to post anything until I actually picked up my bike.

Billbell, to answer your question the Rocket has loads of power and is brutally fast. It is a dream to drive too, very comfortable and smooth. A great, great cruiser. Although it is very fast I have to give the speed nod to the Busa though.

As far as my Busa goes there is one issue I have to address as soon as possible. At 5'7" I am fighting some shoulder and neck pain stretching out for the bars. I have dog bones coming to lower the rear a couple of inches. I will probably shave a half inch or so off of the drivers seat. And, I will be raising the handl bars up about an inch with a spacer, sort of like the GenMar riser except I am making my own out of aircraft phenolic plastic. I am hoping those three mods will help a bit with my neck angle allowing me to not have to hold my head up at such a severe angle. And, hopefully the change in handling will not be too drastic. We will see I guess.

Thanks again guys, nice to meet you all.

Nice set of bikes! You may want to go ahead and get your Tobin seats as opposed to cutting a half an inch off the stock one. It will lower your seating position and provide some greater comfort for longer rides. I think you will be pleased with those mods, but that will only be the beginning!

Thanks for the info BigBS,

I have done a search for Tobin seats and have not been able to find a web site for him. Any chance you (or anybody) has a link?

I know what you mean about the mods I mentioned being the beginning. I am definitely a veteran of the modification wars.

Here's a recently posted webpage about the Tobin seats. <a href="http://www.pashnit.com/tobinseats.htm">Tobin Seats<a> He is also a member of this board (PaFreak) so you can PM him with other questions.

I hadn't realized that the Busa could be uncomforable for shorter riders. When I got the thing I was surprised by how big it was, coming from a Harley Sportster which was much thinner and much more upright in the positioning. I was 6 feet tall and the busa is as comfortable as can be. With Corbin seats my feet reach the ground perfectly. I have 34-35 inch sleeve length so I feel like I'm sitting straight up, yet I have enough butt room to slide back and tuck. By the way, my Corbin seat is so good I never feel butt sore, even after a 300 mile ride.
