I'm doing a pretty decent sized upgrade-project on my '00. What started out as an innocent purchase of a MaxxECU Sport @smithabusa from Greg has now turned into a much larger(and expensive lol) endeavor.

But first a brief background of my Gen 1 story...
I was a full-blown GSXR nut back in the mid-late 80's when I saw the release of the '1986 GSXR 1100&750 in the USA. I was 15yrs old back in 1985 and cut lawns, shoveled snow, bussed tables at a local restaurant etc saved up half the money to buy my dream bike(g'ma matched however much I saved) at the time a 1985 Honda Interceptor 500. Loved it. Crashed it frequently as a squid. GSXR's came out a year later, sold the VF500 and bought a new blue white 1987 GSXR 750. Was a senior in high school. Had no car, wanted the bike instead. Several built/modded GSXR's including 7/11's etc til '99 when the copper silver Busa came out. Was dating my wife at the time, said as soon as they come out w a blue paint scheme I'm selling the GSXR and buying a Busa. Well,2000 the blue/silver came out and bought one. Was polishing the frame/swingarm etc (very popular back in the 90's) getting it ready for Daytona Bike Week in 2000 and a garage fire burnt everything to a crisp including the Busa (0 miles!) and a mint '92.5 Mustang LX 5.0 vert. Total losses.

Took a few months, found another blue/silver '00 and grabbed it. Did the Yosh drop in cams and a Power commander 2 w Yosh Ti Duplex pipe. Made 175rwhp. Then did a Carpenter 1397 w Ti-Force pipe,air-shifter,Adams modified adjustable stock arm etc. Made 218rwhp. Few years later went to a Carpenter 1430cc,made 228rwhp. Got bored and while building my K5 1000 turbo had a chance to grab a brand new Velocity/RPM Stg1 turbo kit for cheap. Sold the Carpenter 1430 and bought a spare 1/2" stud PST engine from Mike Tona at SAE Outlaw (awesome dude/builder/tuner-he built the bullet in my K5 and that's going on 13yrs old without a hiccup). Made 400rwhp maxed out. Rode it for half season, then like a fool decided I needed more horsepowers. Had several other bikes in the stable including the mint RG500 I recently posted.

Bought a slightly used GT3582R Velocity setup from Rick at Ricks Custom Cycle in MI. Had Richard at RCC modify the Velocity plenum to accept secondarys and his fuel rail along w Microtech MT-2. Had Mike at SAE set it up and he tuned it 100% through the stock ECU w ECU Editor. Made just under 500rwhp til it ran outta fueling;needed the Microtech MT-3 to make the 550rwhp it was supposed to,but never got around to it. Added AMS-1000,WEGO3,etc etc.
Rode it for a bit than lost interest and rode my 1441 Gen2 and the K5 turbo as the Gen1 needed expensive C-16 to have fun. Always wanted an RCC Ultra but the funds weren't there as raising a kid in NY ain't cheap lol..

Ok finally to the good part!!! Got the MaxxECU from Greg and as I was stripping off the unneeded AMS-1000,WEGO 3,MT-2 etc I decided I wanted an new setup. Called Richard a few weeks ago and ordered up a brand new complete Ultra kit w a custom upgraded TD twisted billet
wheel. Decided to strip the black wrinkle paint job on the frame and go satin black, along w the foot rests etc. Ordered OEM inner panels to replace the ones I had that had holes cut in for gauges, toggle switches etc. AntiGravity AT20HD battery. All new fittings/line from MPS Racing so I can re-plumb the air shifter along with a bar mounted momentary switch to activate the rolling anti-lag on the Maxx. New Dunlop Dragmax tire and Michelin Power 5 front. Re-dong the fuel lines/fittings w braided -AN stuff. And a new pair of BST 7 Tek wheels

Will post pics if y'all wanna see

Nice that the extended swing arm is braced. So many do not seem to be.
Actually bought that from a member here a decade ago,its a McIntosh 0-6" over. It's for a Gen2 but I couldn't pass up the deal and Terry at McIntosh was running about 6-8wks behind for a new one. Hence the silver Gen2 rear wheel which I had laying around since I had BST's on my '09

That turned out really good.......
Thank you. I decided at this point in my life that a properly done rattle can paint job will suit me just fine haha.

Sold all my hobby-level paint spray equipment, gun, etc and my 60g compressor before we moved so Rust-Oleum was my only plan from the start:D

Bought a pricey can of this stuff but on the fence if should even bother w it or just wet sand between coats like Ive been doing and call it a day without the clear

Rustoleum makes a great product....I've used that to paint some bathroom fixtures and so far so good after 10 yrs......

It would probably be good without a clear coat....

Be careful putting the Spray Max over Rustoleum. I believe Rustoleum is enamel and Spray Max is urethane. The clear *may* anger the enamel paint and give you your wrinkled look back.

Thanks both of you, after reading a bit deeper in AI about the Spray Max I decided I'm not using it. Sounds like I'll definitely F something up according to the directions and do's/dont's posted online

Just got a text from @smithabusa and my flex-fuel sensor and new secondary injector connectors for the Ultra are ready to be shipped. Had to have Greg change the connectors as the secondarys on the existing turbo are different than the new ones on the RCC kit. Also decided to go w the flex-fuel after the fact since I recently located a gas station in Savannah,GA that has E85.
There are NO E85 stations anywhere in SC within a few hundred miles of me which is why I didn't spec it on the Maxx build, but 20mins away in Georgia there is. Stupidity on my part :banghead:
Huge thanks to Greg once again,he's been nothing but helpful with this project :beerchug:

LMAO. that Spray Max can be touchy, I use a few of their products. Sux you have no E85 close.
Yea man thanks a bunch for the heads up on the Spray Max,I wasn't even thinking it could have an adverse effect on the Rust-Oleum and the last thing I want is to F-around and find out I now have the wrinkle or some other janky result underneath. I also don't know why I didn't use the Spray Max satin black instead. It sounds like it would have been a much better choice than the RustOleum. Im kinda shaking my head at myself but Im definitely not going to strip what's on there now and start over uggh

Ok so paint has dried, the foot peg brackets, brake pedal/MC,shift lever, air shift cylinder etc have all been painted and bolted back on after taking the wire wheel to all the bolts and nuts to get rid of any oxidation etc. AntiGravity battery arrived along with all the air shift supplies

It sure doesn't look like you did it with a rattle can...it turned out great and I bet it will be durable too....
