Gixxer 1000 Forks in my Gen 1

Hi Guys, I'm new to the Hayabusa, but have thrown my leg over plenty before. The Gen 1 has just arrived and she's about to get pulled apart. I have been through many many threads to seek the information I need before starting a new one, but the exact answer I've not found to date.

Short story is that I want to put Big radial brakes calipers on the front and streetfighter bars, so new fork legs are required. Ohlins FGRT208 look great and cost plenty too much, Gen 2 legs could work, but there are plenty more GSXR1000 ones around. I understand that GSXR1000 legs are slightly shorter.

Has anyone else actually done this swap and what lessons were there?

I'll probably use K7/K8 front end as I'm going with a K7/K8 tail on her too.

I had a K8 front end on my Gen 1 Busa track bike. Had to use a Gixxer wheel and gixxer top yoke as well. That meant you'll lose the locking function. Also needed to get a different steering damper.

Here are a few angles for you:
