Most expensive piece of paper I've ever had

sorry to hear that slammian, I'd be interested in knowing when your insurance gets renewed, how much the increase is going to be and what you're paying now and with who.

$150/yr

I own my 'busa, only liability

Ouch! This is what I wory about. Sounds like maybe some wiggle room for an attorney though. At least get a free consult and see.

You Good Ole Georgia Boys are a little slow at catching on but after this one you'll pay much closer attention.

Dude, this is not childs play, you can get jail time out of this one as well as loosing your license not to mention, not being able to buy MC insurance for the next seven years.

This is what I would do. Get busy and seek out an attorney that does nothing but traffic tickets. There are a few of them around. If an attorney is well schooled in radar they will have a very high success rate with radar tickets.

We have an attorney here in Washington that rarely looses a radar/laser ticket. His success rate is around 99%. I have used him twice ($350 a pop) and he won both cases. Lot's of my friends have used him as well and not one has he lost yet? So, these guys are out there, you just have to seek them out.

Also, please explain the details surrounding your ticket? With the signature being "U S Postal Service" I'm thinking they got you on a photo radar which is unattended and the ticket was mailed to you? Please explain how you got the ticket?

I was present and the police had my info that's how I got the ticket. There was no photo and the officer couldn't positively identify me. Out of the group I had a 'busa and therefore the assumption was made.

Exactly what happened is this:

I was riding with an experienced group, we passed the trooper, we stopped, one person wasn't paying attention and crashed into the back of another rider when we all slowed. The trooper stopped at the accident, we pulled up ahead and got off our bikes. The local police came to assist, took everyone's info, and let me and one other person leave. The trooper arrested the person who was on the receiving end of the crash, and tried to arrest the injured rider who caused the accident at the hospital. I went to the hospital with the other person he allowed to leave. I left, he stayed. I heard later that the trooper came to the hospital and arrested the person he previously let go, as well as asking for me by name to arrest me. I went back to Florida. I received the ticket in the mail a couple of weeks later.

Sorry to hear that.

Sorry everyone. Radar Jammers are legal to buy, but ILLEGAL to use! LASER jammers are currently legal because it's IR light, and most household remotes run near the frequency of the LASER guns. Jamming of ANY US GOV approved radio frequency is punishable by Fedral Law! Again, it "Buyer/Rider Beware"

I've never heard of such a thing?

I know you're not denying that you were speeding, but to just get something like that in the mail isn't making any sense...did he just pull the # out of his rear?

Odd...yeah, legal counsel is a must for you...good luck...

Definately sounds like you can fight it.  Four bikes and one radar gun.  Which one of you got radared/how can the cop prove that the two of you who stopped down the road all on your own were the same bikes.  He can't.  I understand you did it, but don't confess to it, make them prove it.  Sounds like the two of you who stopped down the road should be able to get of the tickets.  I am sure the trooper lost sight of you guys, and in most states when the cop looses sight for a certain time he can no longer prove it was you he saw in the first place.  The cop who took your info was even the cop who radared you.  If I was the judge the two of you would be free to go.  Too many assumptions...

Get a good lawyer.

Something just doesn't sound right.

So... The group passed the trooper (doing 145?) then stopped with an ensuing crash (not so experienced group IMHO). How did the trooper get you on radar while you were within a group of bikes? Did "everyone" in the group get the same exact tickets for speeding?

If the trooper did not visually identify you, then the local police officer would have to be the one to identify you in court as the operator of the Hayabusa. It would appear that BOTH officers would have to appear in court in order to make the citation valid.

Have to get back to work now.......Good Luck!

Dude, don't just get any attorney, you'll probably loose! Shop around and find a guy who deals only in traffic tickets. Most of these guys are as sharp as a tack and from the sounds of it, will be easy to defeat!

I was in court with our hot dog attorney in December. As I said before, he does only traffic. He won all seven cases he had that day. I watched another attorney work with a kid who had the same ticket I did and he lost. It will depend on Who you have for an attorney?

Ouch!!! Bend over....

I got a ticket last year for 90 in a 60mph zone. Cop was cool and dropped it to 79mph to avoid the reckless charge. The ticket was only $175, but the fact I can't get State Farm insurance now has had a much more detrimental effect on my cash flow. I hope they don't go too hard on you.

YO WTF!!!!!!!! I heard about that sh!t i live in camden county and da cops are all over the rice rockets cause of this stuff i was gasin up the other day and a cop told me about it

hit me up when you go to court bro if im not workin ill go with ya oh yeah

GOOD MF LUCK

dem camden law enforcers dont f@#k around i was arrested in a cul de sac 2 years ago for evading 550 buks for bond but it was dropped in court

Very Good advice, believe me, you dont want to plead guilty to this which is what youre doing if you pay it. Get the very best traffic attorney you can find. It will cost you, but worth it in the long run..... No insurance hike and no points on your license.NJ.

145 mph from an experienced group? An experienced group doesnt do 145 on the street, and if they do they arent stopping for helicopters much less one pig in a wagon. That was poor judgement by you and your friends.

Thats why I call myself SLOWBUSA. IT didnt take me long to figure it out. I got caught going 135 in a 55 on Rt. 84 in upstate NY. I got cuffed, elbowed in the jaw, kicked in the ribs, then had to pay half of what the bike was worth to get it back.

The next time I ran I was with an inexperienced rider and he almost killed himself in the first turn but the cop just went around him and kept chasing me, once the cop figured out the knee pucks I was wearing wasnt just for fashion he backed off. The next morning they were at my front door and they weren't there to welcome me to the neighborhood. I know what you're going through. My advice is to claim insanity at your first hearing.

I don't selieve this to be true!!! Here they run ads for Jammers on the radio and they list all the states where it's illeagal to own one. Of course the sataes that don't allow detectors and a handful of others. I don't even remember this company's name, I've just never payed attention but they also advertise that if you get a ticket with thier jammer they pay any fines!!!
