Looking for a lawyer in the knoxville area

Long story short i made a very very stupid decision to drink and drive and flipped and rolled my car while i was on vacation in pigeon forge. I have realized how lucky i am to actually be alive right now as the forest rangers who arrested me told me that 9 times out of 10 the wrecks are fatality's in the area. I am looking for advice on a lawyer to get in the area, i am being charged in federal court since it was inside the great smokey mountain national park.

I'm sorry to hear that you were that naive and put not only yourself but others in danger. Any of us on the Org could have been riding in that area.

I have no sympathy for you and hope you get the punishment that you deserve.

Drunk driver took my best friends life 19 years ago. He was only 6 years old.

Hope you really think about what you have done :poke::rulez:

I have thought of my decisions and reflected on them the past two days, i am in no way asking for sympathy, and yes i understand that i could have taken many others out with the decision i made. I am very very thankfull that i harmed no one in my moment of stupidity.

We're all human and certainly capable of making bad decisions at the drop of a hat.

With that said, yes the decision you made was horrible but you still have a right to have representation in court. Keep this attitude up (remorse is good) and get a decent lawyer and I'm sure you'll get the most fitting punishment for the crime-person combo.

It's easy for us to judge but it's hard for use to accept that we're all flawed and make DUMB decisions at various points throughout our lives. Regardless, you're a brother. And because brothers don't just turn their backs on each other, you have my best wishes for the outcome.

I appreciate that fact that you are humble and owned up the mistake that you made. For those of you who are tempted to flame this .Org brother, how many times have you blipped the throttle up to 150+ and have been lucky that nothing untoward happened? We all make decisions that we wish we could go and take back. Fortunately for this man nothing is going to be hurt except his pride and his wallet.

Don

I am sorry you made that decision. We all make mistakes, thank God nothing happened and no one was injured, including yourself. Look at this as a second lease on life my friend. Good luck, wish I could offer more advice.

Thanks for the kind words. I am very very gratefull that no on was injured and that i did survive. I am looking at this as a new lease on life. I have a daughter and during my accident the only thing that i thought of was how selfish i was for my decision and possibly never seeing her again.

I sorry that I came off the way I did. We all make mistakes but going so many days without any rest and then seeing this made me snap. I shouldn't have done that at all and I apologize.

Like the other posters stated "Get a Good Lawyer", and continue to be a good father to your daughter.

As for me...I have made stupid decisions in my life as well. Keep on driving and just ask God for forgiveness. He will carry you through this

One of the side effects of drinking is impared judgement. That isn't an out for not making the decision before drinking not to drink without having a designated driver arranged. But sometimes people get caught up in the moment and once the alcohol starts flowing the decision making gets poor. That doesn't mean you are not accountable for the decision. I'm glad that you didn't kill yourself or anyone else that night. Find a good laywer and let the punishment fit the crime.

We all make mistakes, that's human nature. To a point I believe, as long noone was hurt, a totaled car is a good form of punishment... But for a wile, you are gunna have people...:watching:

It really kills me that my Girlfriends mother is known to drink and drive, a couple times a week, and sometimes it is with 2 16 year old boys in the car. I call the police, and nothing happens, but I really want to intervene. We dont really get along so I cant really just sit down with her, but I have tried. She either just denies it or doesn't think its wrong.

Don't ever do it again. Your daughter needs a dad, and so would the daughter of the dad or mother you could have potentially taken out.

No need to apologize it was careless and very reckless on my part.

I don't know him, so I'm not knocking him with this comment and observation that many lawyers who focus on the "academia" of a particular practice aren't always the best ones on the front lines and in the trenches of courtroom practice.

A GREAT way to find a very good lawyer for you is to go to the court where your appearance is required ahead of your court date. Scope it out. Ideally, you will find a friendly clerk or information desk attendant or sheriff/marshal/guard who is chatty enough and will with a wink and a nod tell you what they are officially not supposed to ... "who would you want to represent you if you had a DUI here?" that is a very good way to find a well respected and capable attorney. Getting a few of the aforementioned opinions will likely result in the same name rising to the top of the very short list.

Good luck.
