Damn sorry bro, hope you get it back and in good health. My friend had his Suzi stolen last year 8 months after he bought it, turned out it was someone who lived about 2 blocks from him. Turd tried to run from the cops and totaled the bike now he's locked up doing a 3 year bit, btw my buddy as Baltimore City PD, not a good guy to steal from...how do we covet? We covet that which we see everyday...it was someone that knows the area well enough to know what they can get away with, do some searching on your own at the local bike spots...good luck bro

If I may consider an option for those of you interested in an additional layer of protection.

Check out Open GPS Tracker

I have a friend who has one and he loves it.

I have a GPS tracking device as well. It's disguised as a performance addon. I won't say which one but in a bike with a TRE, power commander, autocomm, laser jammer etc it blends right in.

I can track the location of my bike in real time.

I had my bike stolen before, got a text alert at like 3:14am "GEOLOC not disabled, bike in motion"

I think I wrote about this previously not sure but here goes.

Text received 3:14am, look out my window, see a truck driving down the street with a tarp covering the back, I presume it's my bike back there.

Call 911, explain to the dispatcher that my bike was stolen etc but I have a gps tracking device onboard. I explain to her how it works etc. I ask her if she prefered email or txt. She makes a 6way connection with 4 officers, me and dispatch.

Dispatch asks me to say the location of the bike as it stands now, I name the street and one of the officers says i'm near the area and asks me how it works. I explain the codes to him and he asks to keep me on the line. I turn on the real time tracking feature and tell him the bikes going 35mph eastbown on dillingham blvd.

Cop tells me he's gonna put his lights on and cruise down the freeway to let me know if the vehicle is slowing down...So I tell him when the bike starts to slow down to 25mph. He tells me there's a truck with a tarp in the back...I tell him I can sound an alarm if he needs confirmation it's the right vehicle.

He pulls over the truck, I send a code to the bike and the alarm goes off. He instantly has probable cause to uncover the contents of the bed of the truck, there they find my bike and another motorcycle (probably stolen too) and I recover my bike, all in like 30-40 minutes time.

Opengps tracker is a ping pong style gps tracking device. You arm/disarm via text messages. if the bike goes in motion you get 1 minute updates to the location. You're best chance to catch someone is if they hit a freeway or take the bike to their home/chop shop. Then you you have a stationary reference to go with. 10$/month for 1000 pings. a whereru/iamhere check counts as 2 messages. arm/disarm are also messages (this is all done via text)

The style I go with is a sprint phone on a sero plan, 30$/month is unlimited text and data. I can do ping/pong style and real time tracking. A little easier to catch them in the chase. Since you can see right now where they are (instead of waiting 1 minute for the next update).

not yet , I just got back from atlanta , i was away for 5 days , going to try and get there this week . I have a three week recovery period before the insurance company will pay out . either way this week will finalize things , I have a feeling when the Insurance company cotacts me with the offer ,That will be the most painfull part cause unlike my 05 I financed the 08 and have a feeling I am going to get less than replacement value In which case I will be unable to replace it and still be making a payment to pay the debt !:puke: atleast most of it will get paid off , but feel like I am going to get robbed twice !

i WILL be building one of these very soon. awesome!

If you are confident in your ability to design the circuit using a waferboard I recommend you build the design based on the .18 specs. This gives you the ability to add relays to control different things.

On the board I built for my friend it alerts him when his kickstand goes up, and he has the ability to send a command to kill the engine or cause his brake lights to flash red and blue to alert any leo on the road if he's riding the vehicle.

You can also add a cluster of peizo speakers that will wake up a city block that you can activate on command too. LOL

If you don't feel comfortable building your own circuit (or like to keep it nice and clean) you can look into the kits. diybetter has kits you can buy, PCB's, PCB's + parts and fully assembled kits (minus gps module that plugs and play)

This doesn't give you the ability to add sensors and relays since it's based on the .17 specifications but it will still do geolocs where it'll snapshot your location and alert you if it changes.

I was paying $408 for 20,000 liability, 40,000 property and 20,000 medical coverage with 500 deducable comprehensive.

Progressive wanted 1502 for the same thing.

I called up state farm, took my bike to an agent he asked me if I had any anti theft devices onboard. I explained to him how to track the bike, He noted it in the computer and called an agent somewhere on the east coast to note down the instructions, their head end tested it...They gave me...

419$ a year, 100,000 liability, 300,000 property, and 200,000 medical with roadside service, 500 deductable collision/comprehensive/full coverage. On a 03 busa. I gave them the ping/pong reading, I disabled the MPH reporting  don't want them to know how fast I am going. If the bike goes awol I can enable the realtime reporting then they'll know all the exact specifics.

I cancelled geico like 4 days after I just renewed my policy. LOL

I know how that feels brother. I have a rotor lock that I too stopped using because it cracked a fender. Now I have a Scorpio SR-i900 with all the features and a roadlok that I was going to sell but now I think I'll reinstall it. I really hope they recover your bike with no damage and it's good that you have full coverage. I hope it all works out for you :please:

Dude, what was your bike doing outside in New York in the Wintertime? It's supposed to be in a garage, or in your living room staying warm!!! Cruelty to Busas will not be tolerated on this board!

The thread started in September, so it was probably still riding season at the time.

Any updates on the recovery, or insurance? Whatever happened?
