Inspection and exhaust

I was just informed by a local motorcycle shop (Reynolds) that they would no longer inspect motorcycles that do not have stock exhaust or manufacture approved replacements. I have asked around and all major dealers in the state are following this rule. I think the state has passed an emissions/noise ordinance within the last 6 months that has caused this b_llshit.

I just purchased a 4:1 Muzzy and the only way I can get inspected (by a bike mechanic friend) is to promise that if I get pulled over I say that I modified it after inspection.

Maine is a Harley state and I think those loud a holes have ruined it for all the metric bike owners.

Is this a growing trend or is Maine the suck hole for metric bike owners? Who the f_ck rides a sport bike with stock exhaust? In this state it is dangerous not to let the cars hear you a little bit.

My best friend just installed a V&H supersport with racing baffel on his ZX-1100.

I just broke the news to him today. Lots of luck for him...that thing sounds like a drag bike megaphone.

That does bite! I had an easy time in Mass with my Yoshi race baffle slip ons. The guy in front of me was not so lucky with his undertail with almost invisible directionals.

BUT, take it to some Mom -n- Pop joint, where they don't know all that much about bikes, and have it inspected...that's what we do...sometimes it pays to live in the sticks...

And down here even if your car doesn't pass, you can shoot a few extra bucks to the guys and you are still good.

shouldn't be too hard, 'cuz here in maine, anywhere you go ('cept for portland, that is) you're in "the sticks"!

just put the stockers back on, get your sticker, and you know the rest of the drill....

Move to Arkansas, there is no inspection on ANYTHING. downside....I just saw a 72 Maverick Grabber with no doors on it and a homemade sunroof....sweeeet, it was! Complete with rebel flag, done with sharpies, on the hood. Damn nice work.....
