Every time I change the oil, no question. Why cheap out on a $10 filter for a $12K piece of equipment.

I usually follow the owners manual it says change the filter every 3rd oil change.

Replace engine oil:
initially at 1,000 km (600 miles, 2 months) and every 6,000 km (4,000 miles, 12 months) thereafter

Replace oil filter:
Initially at 1,000 km (600 miles, 2 months) and every 18,000 km (11,000 miles, 36 months) thereafter.

Change the oil every 3,000 miles, not because I have to, but because I do oil analysis and like to see what gives with viscosity and metals in the oil after 3,000 miles.

Change the oil filter every 6,000 miles, not because I want to, but because it is a b&** to remove all those plastics. Also, my oil analysis tells me if the filter is still in one piece and doing its job.

I think the manual suggests every 3rd oil change to change filter.

has anyone seen the K&N filters with a nut on the back? It makes things a whole lot easier. I wouldnt skimp on a changing the filter.
