This morning I was headed into the District. HOV was empty as far as I could see. I cracked it and was going somewhere in the low triple digits. I was in cruise mode when I decide to check my mirrors. I had to do a double take. I saw lights waa...aay behind me. Since I was the only thing on the road I knew he was coming for me. I slowed down and the trooper caught up. He pulled up beside me and motioned for me to pull over. I did... After pulling over, I took my helmet off and killed the engine. (did not feel like getting down on the street....) The trooper started with the do you know how fast you where going question. I told him that I was doing 80+ He looked at me and laughed. He walked around my bike. He checked the inspection and the personal property sticker. We then talked a bit. One thing he told me was that a lot of guys he pulls on bikes, do not have their motorcycle endorsment and or inspection / personal property stickers. I thought that to be interesting. We talked about my busa and the mods. He knew a lot about the king. To the point where I think he actually owns one!!!
The trooper was very professional and very cool. He told me he was not going to ticket me for speeding. (though he had me nailed) He did write me a ticket for no tag light on my swing arm. I said thank you!!!!!! (...I have lights in my hump that I have not installed)
What a deal. 60 miles over the speed limit and a go to jail free card or a $25.00 fine. I'll take the fine everytime. No complaints....
Lessons learned:
1. Don't speed.
2. Make sure you are legal. Get your endorsement. At least in Va. this will save you a trip to jail
3. Be respectful to the LEO. Dude had me nailed. I knew this. He knew this. I showed him a level of respect and he received it. I was wrong for speeding. There was no need for me to act like a butt.
Thanks for the ear
