Why not use a helicoil or go back with the next size larger oil plug?

All I can tell you is that when I installed a Gen II pipe on my Gen I, there was a lot of clearance between the bottom of the oil pan and the pipe. It was a Yosh header and there's so much clearance that its very easy to remove the oil filter and take it out. I couldn't do that when I had a Yosh Gen I header on. I have heard that the oil pan on the GenII is deeper so this might confirm that. Hope helps a bit.
