she had her first chain adjustment on 901 miles. Is this common for a person to have to adjust that often? I am shifting 5,000rpm and below on stock busa.

Chains go through a dramatic break in, if you waited till 900 miles it was probably dangerously loose. I adjusted mine at 300 and again at 1200. After that it's broken in and won't require much attention...you'll be able to go many thousands of miles before needing to adjust it. I clean, lube and check the chain every 300 to 500 miles.
