I was up at Deals Gap last week with some friends and we got a big suprise. The Tennessee side is being worked on. They were replacing the gravel in the pull-off / parking areas and building up the shoulders. They dump a load of gravel into the road then spread them out with a backhoe. They did have 1 guy with a push broom sweeping up the dirt and gravel the backhoe missed. Needless to say there was gravel and dirt in the road for half of the trip. Also there were THP officers there. If anyone goes up in the next weeks let me know if the work is done. It wasn't much fun trying to ride the curves with dirt and gravel in the road. I probably wont be going back for a few weeks myself.
