I want to replace sprockets and chain. I'm down to the counter sprocket cover. I removed the speed sender unit but I can't remove the clutch rod unit from the cover. The two screws are out but it won't come off. What am I doing wrong? My old V-strom unit came right off.

Leave the slave cylinder (2 bolts) on the cover and remove the cover as an assembly. You have to remove the brake line to pull the slave off the cover. No need to do that for a sprocket change.
