well today started off badly. got all ready to go to work got all gear on and ready and looked for key on key rack by the door..humm no motorcycle key. looked around and could not find it. i drove it last night and don't remember putting it away, but did hang outside for abit with wife and kids. anyhow to dark to look for it around house and yard took car as spare key is in gun safe.

now the whole drive to work it's been bugging me uggg. i though couldn't hurt to have a spare and i know the sell blanks online and figured they would be cheaper then dealer. now the china ones are like $6 but other one called "Immobilizer" are like $41 on ebay. WTF??? really what's so special about them? anyhow got to look around at home still but if i have to replace it wnated to see where to buy and if it needs somthing special

Are you referring to the difference in these 2 ?

Blank Key for Suzuki GSXR 600 750 1000 Hayabusa - Black | eBay

Suzuki Hayabusa Busa Immobilizer Key Blank 08 09 - eBay (item 290597140254 end time Sep-06-11 22:32:13 PDT)

If so then the difference is about $43.50  Other than that i see no difference, None of mine seem to use a chip in the key so I just seem them calling it a immobilizer and stating it is a genuine suzuki key. I have bought plenty of the cheaper ones in different colors for different bikes and took them down to my local key shop and got it cut for like a $1.00 and never had a problem, all seem to work just fine.

Hold on, I may be wrong as I just seen this on a review:

One thing I omitted to mention was the inclusion of SAIS or Suzuki Advanced Immobilizer System. It's basically the same as HISS by Honda. Just like most new cars the Hayabusa now has a transponder key security system. Note that you only get two keys so don't lose them. They are apparently integrated into the ECU of the bike so losing them means a new ECU for your bike. I'm not sure how or whether there is a way to 'copy' the keys... All said a step in the right direction to preventing theft.

But I can swear I bought one of those same cheaper key blanks and cut another spare for my 08 Gen 2 and it works fine. ???

well mine is an 08 so i think suzuki would be smart enough to be able to copy them..would be idiotic if they sold two keys then you need new ECU? people lose keys all the time so there must be a way so...anyone else?

American bikes don't have the immobilized system on them.
You're wasting your money if you buy a key with the chip.

Oh, ok I see it was a Euro thing due to high bike theft over there I read. So you should be good with the $3.97 one

Unless you have one with the system. And if you do it will have a red led light next to key. In that case you will need to spring for the $47 key.

Thanks Blanca, I was starting to get all my spare keys together to look at them to make sure. :banghead:

I got a bad habit of doing that all the time, I just get so to leaving them all in everything in the garage I usually just kill it with the key and go about my business. A least everything's insured.

I've left mine a few times for just a short time. The whole time I was reading the first post I was thinking " check the bike "

Someone " Tom " was pulling them out of bikes at the Bash
