Am I paranoid?? Is the end near?

Reagan won the Cold War. Obama couldn't win a game of checkers.

BTW, if you majored in Pol Sci I'm not at all surprised that you can't see the differences between Reagan and Obama. - Every Pol Sci student I've ever met has been brainwashed into thinking "liberal = good, conservative = bad".

Here's a fact for you: during Democrat Presidencies, people who hate America are emboldened by weak foreign policies, so that they will commit acts of terrorism against US-owned/held targets. Have a look at the number of terrorist attacks committed during the Clinton era and look at Clinton's response, i.e. the eff-all that he did about it.
Jimmy Carter was just as bad. When the Embassy in Tehran was taken over, he should have told Khomeini that he was five seconds away from nuking Iran. He didn't, and those people were held hostage for more than a year. And what was it that prompted the release of the hostages? - That's right: Reagan's inauguration. Those guys knew that Reagan wouldn't hesitate to kill them all.
Democrats are almost always weak, ineffectual leaders, with no spine to stand up the world's a-hole population.
Obama is weak and tries to sympathise with people who don't want, need or deserve sympathy. He would try to sympathise with a nest of scorpions, rather than simply destroy them.

See what I mean, your opinion doesn't mean facts. So you think conservatives or republicans don't teach Poly Sci? Two of my professors worked for Reagan during his first campaign. Our Governor was republican. Many of our internships were for his office. But just so you know, Poly Sci is not about political views or opinions, but government structure.

Here is a fact, more American have died from terrorist attacks when the president was republican. So if you are correct about more terrorist attacks under democrats, one could conlude that terrorist are more successful when the president is republican. There goes that argument about democrats not protecting our country and its people.

I know your are going to say I am not telling the truth but look it up. How many Americans died from terrorist attacks under Carter, Clinton and Obama? That number is less than how many died under Regan. If you add the number under father and son Bush, that number is outragous.

Your first mistake is that you think I am an Obama supporter who bashes Republicans and the Tea Party. I am an American who loves, serves and supports his country. I look at facts and all I have ever done is asked "What are the facts behind your statement?". Then I would ask, "What is so differnt about this guy compared to the next guy?". And "Where were you when this guy attacked the constitution?", "When this President did this, wasn't thtat a move towards Socialism?". The response I get is usually a personal attack and answers that have no facts or make no sense.

I don't want to get in personal battle or fight with you, I respect what you do. You seem like you know what you are talking about and I would just like to get some straight factual answers about our current President compared to past ones. I mentioned using pm's so we wouldn't derail this thread with outlandish comments from the far left and right.

Just to let you know, I was in college majoring in Political Science during his first term and served in the USAF during his second term. I know something about the Cold War, I even read SALT and SALT II. Can you back up your comments about the greatest and worst president with some facts on legislation and policy, not just opinions?

I can back up everything I say my friend, just ask anyone on this forum. I too have retired from the Air Force and currently work in a classified position for the government. I have served our government for over 31 years and still going. I will say that everyone has an opinion in this forum and are entitled to voice them. That's the American way. If you want to go point to point on politics with me I'm game, just PM me and will go at it.....det45

Ok, I will send a pm in a couple of days. I headed out the door on my way to do some riding in Cali. I don't want to challenge you, I just want to hear and understand your position.

There are already a few states that are loonig into making their own currency. That way when the crap hits the fan, then the state can back its own money and set up its own system.

I read the first few posts and decided to skip to the end and post. First off NO, NO, NO we are NOT going down the crapper. This is massive fear mongering and making people do stupid stuff with money and food. We CAN lower our standard of living. This is the "real" threat. We will have a lower standard of living but everything will continue as it has. You will not haver as much extra money as you may now. We can go a LONG ways down to an economy that supports us like for example Poland (I'm just trying to think of some country's off the top of my head), not the current American lifestyle, but not foraging for food either. So, do not listen to the doomsday crap and us going down the crapper overnight. It will be a long drawn out event when it happens.

Ride more, worry less!! No matter what, we will be treated well by our Chinese Overlords!

Sorry to tell you but I cringe everytime I hear American or Patriot from someone in the Tea Party. For some strange reason I think those term covers a very narrow band of people and I am not included in that group.
Sorry to hear you feel this way, but after all it's not the Tea Parties fault you feel this way. The only one who controls how you feel is you!

I think it is funny how the Tea Party constantly attacks Obama and his agenda. From what I can tell he has none. All of the things he has done or tried to do are just regurgitated Republican Ideas.
National Health care, Republican???? Gays in the military, Republican???? Refusing to honor his duty to defend all the laws not just the ones he likes (defense of marriage act), Republican??? Appointing Supreme Court Justices that have a disdain for the Constitution (especially the 2nd amendment), Republican??? Continuing to implement a law that has been ruled unconstitutional, Republican??? Taking over private companies (GM, Chrysler etc), Republican??? Forcing shareholders who are guaranteed to be first in line by law to accept pennies on the dollar from companies going bankrupt while giving unions billions, Republican??? I could go on all night!! Obama has more in common with Chavez and Stalin then he does with Republicans.

Any way, I am just searching for a factual, intelligent answer on what is so bad about Obama compared to Bush or Regan.
See above!

not sure thats the best solution either, at least the last time we had separate monies it didnt pan out well .... just sayin ???

The fact is that until the USD is stabilized and worth more than the Charmin extra soft we are using to clean up with, this cycle will continue. Is it going to be a republican or democrat that gets us there? probably not, honestly Ross Perot would have been a *horrible* president but I promise you the dollar would be worth 10 euro if he was running the place  The only real "safe" investments these days are in commodities that will inherently maintain or gain value (ie various food stuffs, precious metals, ways to produce energy, etc). The country is 200% dependent on oil and has not budged really in producing real alternatives until just this decade. We have plenty of natural resources of our own but choose to hug a tree and send our money around the world, in many cases supporting our enemy instead of healing our country. The worst is yet to come we can only hope that things do not get too much worse and we can survive without having riots/protests like they are having around the middle east. God help us if Egypt decides they now want to close the canal or befriend the wrong group(s) or just flat out p!ss in Israel and the US's face. You'll want a good supply of bicycle tires if that happens

A. If you have 1 foot in tomorrow and 1 foot in yesterday?...chances are you're pi$$'in all over today.

B. Got God?

MANS BEST THINKING STILL SUX! :banghead:

We only like to think we know what is coming when the truth is that it will be a horror greater than any man can imagine.

We only like to think what we WILL do and how we might conduct ourselves but the truth of the matter is no one knows how they themselves are going to act until the time comes.

Stockpiling supplies and arms is one thing...having the ability to hang onto them will be another..

In the absence of Love & Compassion?...FEAR and Evil will consume the souls of all those in the mix...the family you feel sorrow for and "take in" will slit your throat in your sleep just to take what they're afraid you wont freely give too them.

I choose NOT to think too much about these things as i've already thought about them to much in the past...today?..I live for the day...the beautiful day God have given me..why rush into the uglyness we all know is coming?..enjoy the time you have left 1 day at a time..cause the Shid will hit the fan soon enough and no one knows how it's gonna come, go down or?..how they themselves will act until it gets here.

Know this...when 1 man has all the money?..it's officially worthless..game over...meanwhile?..we all freak out over what is nothing more than...

"Green Ink & Paper"

Now...i'm going back to building my Carbon Fiber arrow shafts fletching them on my Bitzenberger Jig and practice my archery skills with my Bob Lee Hunter Take Down Recurve...for 5 good reasons..

1. I find the sport of instinctive traditional archery extremely threaputic and serene..an almost "Zen Like" peace comes over me when i'm in the zone.

2. It never runs out of bullets

3. There's almost nothing to wear out or break

4. You can take game "Quietly"

and finally?...

If ya did it right?...

With proper camo and stalking technics?..(especially during the dusk/dawn hours) ?....

5. I bet you could take out a dozen advesaries before the 13th realized what the he11 was going on!

Good point! It might be time for one of these.

I`m not a big "poster" on here, but I have been reading this thread. The OP is asking about the fall of society, money is only paper. The political system hs been failing for years, not one side or the other, Sorry (IMHO). The value of things will depend on what those things can do/give you. Imagine a big city without food, water, electricity, whose going to keep control? Do the math, not enough Leo`s or military to cover everything, how long will those people keep at it knowing that thier families, (left unattened are at risk?) What about the people that provide services in gas, elec, medical fields, how long will they keep at it?, (before self preservation sets in?) We will become self reliant for a peroid of time. Do you think that "we the people" are above panic and riots? UMM, check out the LA riots, think about that on a national scale. Just my 2cents, but really, think about it.

I see you like the way i think so..please allow me to give you my thoughts on that..and i'd hafta go with a "No go on the crossbow thingy" for the following reasons..

1. Way too cumbersom & weighs too much...and if you carried that?...that would be about all you carry..wereas a good quality take-down recurve can be brokedown to "stashable in a backpack size" yet assembled and put into action within a few minutes and only adds about 2-3 lbs including arrows..he11..i gotta 3D match to shoot this next sunday and?..if it's nice?..i'm thinking I might take my busa..with my takedown recurve and arrows bungeed to the back..how cool is that?

2. Too much to break, wear out or go out of tune on the xbow.

3. Way to SLOW and awkward to "Reload" as compared to a recurve.

4. It's much easier to find, recover and re-use arrows as compared to "Bolts".

in short?..i'll be slinging my FN .308 heavy barrel thats topped with a high end swarovski scope..and with that?..i can take anything i want from a long ways away..yet still have my takedown recurve packed for quiet work and bag'in dinner without detection where ther's no extra room on my back for a permanently assembled compound xbow.

and with that?..i'll type yet another of my infamouse quotes..

"In an ever growing, lazy and out of shape society hungry for yet even more technology to make them even more lazy and out of shape?...

THE BEAUTY OF SIMPLICITY IS ALMOST ALWAYS OVERLOOKED

except by the still thinking few."

I've been a Cub Scout, Boy Scout and US Marine...and they all had one thing in common that they taught unto me...

"Be Prepared"

...mentaly, physically...spiritually

and?..

Know your gear and take care of it cause one day it may take care of you...ala.."My Rifle".

Ditto what BOB said.... Plus There is nothing wrong with a little stock pile. I even taught this in my Martial Arts school , we had a saying I put on our shirts it said" Bible , Beans and Bullets" with a twist of Jiu Jitsu... Tells lifes priorities in order. Your surely dont want to miss out on any one of the three B's.. So IMOget the 3 B's put them on a shelf and then live life to its MAX , because none of us know when it'll be our last day.
I look at life like riding a bike. You can either have a cruiser or a Rocket, Cruise thru the turns taking your time , sight seeing bla bla bla or get on a Rocket and let'er rip, Yeeehhaa .I'll take the rocket...

I have to agree with you on all points again but for someone who doesn't have experience with a bow or the upper body strength (my wife) it's a good compromise. If the SHTF a recurve would be essential to have and exactly why I'm looking to pick one up. Then comes the hard part, to get proficient with it.

to add...

I watched what happened to people in miami/homestead area after hurricane andrew leveled the place and within 3 days i watched people beat each other over the head with shovels for..wait for it.."a bag of ice"..they turned into animals in less than 72 hours.

Several weeks later?..I had friends who worked down there who likened the place to vietnam..relatively quiet during the day but as the sun went down?..the shots and screams started...with rape, murder and pilaging leading the crime flavors of the month and?..like you describe..there was not enough law enforcement..they descibed it as a "Watch'ur back He11" and didnt go anywhere or do anything unarmed..he11..even some of the armed folks refused to go back as for most it was traumatic just being there and witnessing the horrors that took place as people resorted to their most basic of instincts...survival.

wel?..enough of that..i still have more arrows to fletch up this weekend and it's a beautifulo day to get some more archery practice in my back yard cause unless it's pooring rain?..i shoot at least 40 arrows a day just to keep me "Tuned Up"!

I can help you..and your wife...

Qualifications?: In '87-'88 i was ranked 2nd in the state w/ the NFAA and FAA (Florida Archery Association) and in later years Coached my best hunting bud "Steve White" to becoming 1st in the state..for several years running.

1st?..buy a Morrels Eternity Target..about $40-$50..sets up in minutes and makes it convienent to practice every evening after work.

2nd..and very important..."BUY THE RIGHT GEAR FOR YOU"!..way too many people (especially men) buy their gear based on testosterone rather than their honest strength levels...go to a local archery shop..and don't buy a recurve you can't draw & anchor (just for a second or two) at least 20 x's without shaking..and find the draw weight that is right for you...i have two daughters still at home..one is 13 and the other 17...they both own and practice with a 20lb and 30lb draw takedown recurves..screw in some 85gr broadheads on their lightly spined and tuned to their bow arrows and?..either one of them is able to take a mans life from 20+ yards with a well executed/placed shot...which both can do.

Lastly?..another beauty of owning a quality "Take-Down Recurve" is because the limbs are removeable?..you can upgrade anytime..for instance..many will order/buy a takedown w/ 2 sets of limbs..a lighter set such as 30-45lbs for practice and a heavier set such as 45-60lbs for gett'in down to business and the numbers are just examples..as limbs can be bought as low as 15-20lbs..and they will shoot well with proper arrow weights/spines.

I'm 52...I shoot 54lbs...I can keep them in a mans chest size target out to 45yds..and at 30yrds and closer?..my 125gr broadheads will kill with more authority than most firearms and if anyone doubts me?..watch a slow-mo video of a deer being taken with a bow...the 1st thing that comes out the other side is about a quart of blood..if the indians had in the way of archery equipment what we have available to us today?..we'd all still be living in Teepee's!

EDIT/PS: And that's exactly what this thread is about us "Gett'in back too"..ain't it?

You guys all have too much money. Will each one of you please send me $500? I will invest it in something that will take care of you if the world collapses into nothing. I will then return it to you with a much higher value at that time. You will be amazed at how well it works!

Just a personal update.......I do feel a bit stupid for admitting it but my wife and I bought our first batch of canned goods to be stored away.....4 mixed cases for starters. We feel if we buy a little each week we won't feel the additional expense. The same with ammo..... I picked up a few boxes of 9mm's on my way home from work yesterday. We plan to gradually grow our reserves over the next few months.... A mix of canned goods (a couple of years shelf life to be put in rotation) AND freeze dried products (15+ yrs shelf life). I'm doing a lot of homework to assure we get the most for our money. This is already starting to depress me and i have only just begun.
