I just bought a 2007 Hyabusa, that has just short of 5000 miles on it, from my ex-wife.
I read that the 1st. Generation has a problem with the "rear wheel bearings collapsing" and it's "2nd. gear going out" due to the gear not being back-cut. Has anyone on here had any experience with these problems or heard of anyone having experienced these problems?
I've been riding for over 50 years and built and drag raced (1/4 mile) a Kawasaki then a Honda thru the 1980s and '90s.
Thank you in advance.

Just so you know, you have two threads going on for the same subject......it's a challenge to answer in both threads.......

You are better off to stick to one thread as you will get more responses.....

............and it's spelled HAYABUSA.....these bikes are sensitive to the spelling of their name......

Thanks for the welcome! I'm looking forward to riding again and building another motor over time. Over the decades, I've build quite a few bike and car motors, both stock and performance and been a member of quite a few forums, a few different '50s pick-ups, Corvette, lowrider, etc. And a number of builds before the Internet existed. I've turned wrenches, with respect and precision since the early '70s. For the last year or so, I've been saying that I want to do one last build, have one more performance ride, so here I am.
Every reply I've gotten on here has been friendly, positive and helpful and I'm much appreciative.

Simple solution would be finding a used Gen 2 ~ $wap engines & wheels while building your Factory motor & transmission *

Gen1 Hayabusa is much more simple than the Gen2 or Gen3 Hayabusa *

Sure they go over 180 mph in the quarter mile Terry , just like those dodgy gmc & Toyota Hemi motors go over 340 mph *

Does anybody ever have that issue in first gear it almost feels like the same as one second gear is popping out?? On a 2007 Hayabusa

Did it just start, or did you buy it that way?
If you bought it that way, make sure the shift rod is adjusted properly, making sure it is engaging properly.
1st gear failures are very rare, as 2nd and 5th tend to be weak links in all transmissions just based on design, and even then failure is not that common, but does happen.
Failing first is usually abuse, beginner riders.

Hi. I had a ZX11 with a 6th gear that jumped out right from the factory.
