Since I was disassembling it, I figured I should go through the whole bike and check it out and do whatever maintenance I could. The bike had close to 25,000 miles on it, a worn chain and sprockets, and balding tires, so I figured I would do AllBalls tapered steering bearings, Worldwide ceramic wheel bearings, Vortex aluminum rear sprocket (+1), supersprox front sprocket (-1), K&N air filter, EK 530 ZVX-3 X-Ring chain, Pirelli Diablo Rosso Corsa II tires, and clean all the built up grime I could find.
I ended up getting caught up and decided to lighten her up a bit with a GSX-R 1000 tail (using gregg's customs adapter kit and Corbin seat) and an aluminum front fairing stay and rear pillion.
Then I wanted to get rid of those giant dual Yoshi cans and the cat, so I took the cheap way out and bought a VooDoo Shorty full system (I know you all hate me for that, I don't care), it's getting replaced with a single Yoshi system eventually (R11 as soon as I figure out how to adapt it).
You may notice that one pipe is much further in than the others, after contacting Schnitz (where I bought it) and being connected with VooDoo reps, I was shipped a replacement pipe (for free) that did the exact same thing, then a VooDoo rep told me to just loosely mount the whole system front to back and then tighten and it would be fine. Turns out he was right, I've had no issues with it.
The bike was rideable at this point, so I briefly considered making it a street fighter until I rode it over 120mph and quickly realized how much I enjoy fairings. More to come soon as this post is getting long...
