I carry my S&W 9mm semi-auto in my tank bag when going to work. I keep it right on the top in the bag in case it is NEEDED.

Two, I don't normally carry when I'm riding. But, if I did, that's how I would and was just responding to the OP. Some people live in different crime-level areas than other members do. As long as they have gone thru the process to get a CCW, it's not likely they are the threat. If you lived in the middle of Detroit or Memphis (where I had my first permit) you might think differently. Hope I never have to use it.

What if we just live in a bad neighborhood with a high crime rate? Have you ever been mugged by gun point? I have.....twice, I choose to not et it happen again. I guess you have never had to live (or ride) in the bad areas of a major metropolitan area where you have to worry about being killed for looking at someone the wrong way let along having your bike jacked for being a bad azz busa! I grew up in and out of Washington D.C. so I have learned to protect myself. It is also my right to have my fire arms. I don’t have it with me everywhere I go but if I'm going into a large city or to an unfamiliar neighborhood I'm going to take it with me. As Blanca put it, better to have and not need than to need and not have. Nobody is bashing you for not carrying a gun but please don't bash those of us who choose too.

But remember to ride accordingly when carrying. If I was to say...heading out looking for some street racing......I sure wouldn't be carrying. Posession of a firearm while committing a felony will get ya in a WHOLE LOT of trouble!

Good to see that I am not the only one who carry's while riding. XD SC Custom shoulder rig or SW J Frame Ankle rig with second strap.
For those folks who take issue with concealed carry allow me to remind you of two quotes.

nope, just safe. we were out playing photo tag on our bikes one night in downtown minneapolis last year. we parked our bikes at the twins stadium and were just sitting around smoking and joking when we were approached by 2 guys. we didnt think much of it but the got closer and the conversation got towards the unfriendly side. my 2 buddies that I was riding with were both carrying when they noticed my one buddies pistol under his jacket. I heard the one guy say to the other "he's got a gun". neither one of them said another word, they both turned and walked away.

Full size 1911 on my hip. I always wear my leather jacket, and believe it or not doesn't bother me much. I have compact pistols but prefer to carry the full size.
