I am going to go big bore, cams, and head work. For starters nobody will be able to see from the outside ANY mods short of your pipe. I feel that the power delivery of a big bore/cammed motor is more predicable than a psi boosted motor. My bike will be a daily driver with some twisties thrown in. The idea of being leaned over and the tire spinning from coming up on boost is not acceptable. Just look at Formula Extreme nobody runs a turbo or supercharged bike. Now in dragracing its all Forced induction an NOS. Just depends on personal preference, just like bike ownership tounge.gif . I have thought about NOS but I want to be able to hide the bottle and have alittle more than 40 seconds to be empty.

go ride a turbo bike.... they aren't like that. It is very controllable in the twisties and the only thing that would cause your tire to spin is if you whacked the throttle wide open and held it there mid corner. I doubt you would ever do that.

i agree with fstbusa even though i have not ridden a turbo bike, but i am pretty sure the boost comes on before 4000rpm's, i dont think i ever go around a corner at 4k, prob double that so you would be well into the boost by then and wouldnt have a sudden hit like that...

if done right a big bore kit is easier to tune and cheaper in the long term

i bought my 99 with a 1400 kit in January
at 25k the original owner had the big bore kit, cams, pipe and power comander installed by a reputable builder
had it dynoed and tuned to 190 rw hp
the bike now has 44k and runs perfectly
no problems what so ever
if its done correctly it should run smoothly and reliably

hell race bikes live hundreds some thousands of miles between rebuilds
and i see street bikes that don't live that long

plan your work and work your plan for success

and dont think you are smarter than a prfessional
theres a reason why thats what they do
and thats why you do what you do

ive seen to many back yard mechanics bad mouth products and services
of other people not knowing why it was done that why or why something happened

for the most part you get what you pay for in the big picture

your right....but there is respocibilty of the consumer too. I mean really, should anyone even get on a busa and say, man this is not powerful enough? And for those that do....you need knowledge, not just a credit card.

Why is it that people can spend 10 k for a bike....and not have enough to spend 1k on riding gear....and or classes?

Why can someone spend 5k on a turbo set up but not have an egt or wide band? Both around $350.....? $350 more for alky? then there is the needed other upgrades....clutch, possible trans, air shifter, extended swing arm, regear, new chain.....

?????????i had big bore bikes before thought it was time to try turbo went to someone repeatable orient express out of new york i was told by friends to at least get a blow off valve and a spacer plate it was like pulling teeth to get the blow off valve and joe hahn kept telling me i did not need the spacer plate it was not like i was not paying him to do the job i finally gave up trying i spent a total of 6,800 for everything took it home no more than 15 minutes later smoke was coming from every ware pipe and crank case i took it back and he said nothing was wrong with the bike and said that i should here the noise his bikes made well long and behold i take it out for another ride and melt down that's bs man so the moral of the story is do what feels right to you

A turbo bike is a very hands on, involved type of affair. If somebody knows nothing about bikes and wants to takes their machine to a shop for a turbo install....and then ride happily ever after with never another thought about the bike....a turbo bikes not for you. But if you are comfy with wrenching, do your research, and get involved in your turbo install (or even do it yourself) a turbo can be just as reliable as anything else, IF you use some common sense riding it, and leave the boost alone ;) I put over 12k trouble free miles on my last turbo running 18+lbs of boost before I sold it :beerchug:

Just my point of view mind you....
1. Typically cost's more to go all motor (not always).
2. All motor ends up with a higher RPM band which is more difficult on the street.
3. A broad torque range is always more usable.
4. Higher rev's equal less engine life.
5. Turbo whistle sounds so so so HOT!!
6. I would think a turbo bike would sell better.
Just my opinions, don't shoot me.. But feel free to argue your point!!
