You should still be able to beat them. Start out in the lowest gear you can and tuck down as low as you can go. Unless you are racing a 105 pound guy on a 1000, you shouldn't be seeing their tailights after 3 or 4 gears.

I rode with a guy with an '05 Zx10 that had a Lee's Performance STG-4 upgrade ( don't know what that includes ) but he had NO PROBLEMS outrunning everyone( Busas,1000s,ZX12/14s) that tried him except for me. Some of the guys think he had GAS on it but he must have run out by the time we raced if he did. He was pulling wheelies at 100 mph ! There were also 2 ZX14s that were not impressive at all.
