What did I do today.......it might come a huge surprise but I shoveled.....twice.......

I went to pick up the neighbor's daughter at her school after her exams and it is very slippery out there....it's too cold for salt to work and there was a light dusting of snow adding to the slipping and sliding......

I went out snowshoeing and when I came home, a buddy of mine sent me this video....

Our LG dishwasher started acting up, the panel was flashing on and off, it would beep for no reason and would sometimes shut down in the middle of a cycle...

I did a little research and a tech in a video said to unplug the blue tooth antenna as to him it looked like it was added after the panel was built....

So I did and 10 cycles later, it has worked flawlessly....

Not sure if anyone on the forum has an LG dishwasher acting up but that was the fix.....

@Bumblebee , Our Electrolux washer and drier are brand new. The drier turned for 5 seconds and shut off. It did this every time we tried it. We were hanging our clothes all around the house to dry for two weeks. HD brought a new drier for an exchange. That's their fault because they obviously didn't test the drier before leaving. My mom asked the guy who installed the new drier to check how the plug fit the outlet because she remembered a repair person saying he thought there was something wrong with the outlet. Sure enough, there was something wrong. The new drier didn't work either. That might have been the reason the old drier didn't work too. It turned but made no heat. I'd have thought if there was a problem with the outlet, it either would give power or it wouldn't. Apparently not. An electrician came and fixed the outlet and the new drier worked fine. ...but then the washer stopped working and gave a code. Mom looked it up and the code was for a water issue. She said she asked the electrician to make sure both faucets were on while he was in the laundry closet. I guess he's not a very good plumber because I found both faucets turned off. I turned them on, problem solved. Both washer and drier work great now.

We had water all across the basement floor from one end to the other. I knew it was the humidifier on the furnace because this has happened a few times in the past. The water panel was due for a change but just barely. So I turned the tiny faucet off and took the humidifier apart. I figured out how to clean everything up and when I got to the drain tube, it was clogged with goop at the bottom. I ran hot water through it in the sink and slimy membranes came out. I put it all back together and voila, no more leaking. So now I know how to change the water panel and give everything a thorough cleaning. That's what I did yesterday.

I fix pretty much everything I can around here.....

Kind of like last summer when I heard my neighbor trying to start his lawn tractor over and over.....I went over to check it out and one of the checks I do is look at the fuel filter to make sure it is getting fuel......I walked home, got a set of pliers, went back and flipped his fuel filter around that he had just changed so the arrow was pointing the right way.....he turned the key and it started right up...

He looked pretty sheepish after that....

I'm trying my best to figure everything out to do repairs myself. Mom got a new roof, furnace, water heater and now washer and drier. ...all in the last 18 months. She had two large trees near the home cut down too. I'll inherit the house if I want it. I probably will so might as well know how to take care of it.

She had two large trees near the home cut down too. I'll inherit the house if I want it. I probably will so might as well know how to take care of it.

Always a good plan, I constantly explain this to the neighbor's kids....it's good to be handy or at least have knowledge of these things so even if you get someone over to fix it, you have a working knowledge so you don't get taken down the garden path....I included vehicles in this mix as well..

I explained that the dealership called for my truck to be taken in for a long expensive list of maintenance items to be done....at first I agreed then looked in my owner's manual and noted this was to be done at 100,000kms and I only had 60,000kms on the truck...

So I called them back and told them I would contact them when the truck gets to 100,000kms and schedule these maintenance items...

If I would have not checked, this would have all been done 40,000kms before it was needed......which would throw the entire maintenance schedule off....

They didn't realize it could be so complicated....

I managed to get out for a good snowshoe walk....it was snowing heavy but was nice, quiet and serene in the woods......

I went a ways and sat on a fallen tree for a spell enjoying nature......the sound of birds and a nearby running brook was peaceful.....

Did front & rear sway bar links on the GF's Mazda 3. Needed a serpentine belt and water pump pulley as well.

Stupid engineer put the main belt behind the a/c belt off the crank.
Had to drop the a/c compressor to change the main belt.. And of course the a/c compressor sits at the bottom of the engine.. Under the car, on my back I went..

The engineers should have to perform these functions when they design something.....it might teach them to put a little more thought into their designs....

I went off to shovel at one of the elderly lady's home and reveled at how many drivers went by who never cleared their vehicles, only running their windshield wipers to create a hole to see out.......

Interesting morning, trespassers.

We live in a private community, 12 large acreage lots with a private dirt road running through the center. Each property line runs to the center of the dirt road, meaning it is private and owned by the property owners.

Very private, very safe, regulated with reasonable rules to protect the value. The entrance has a sign clearly stating private property no trespassing allowed.

Two pickup trucks found it today, using the road and off the road to play dirt riding. Both had their license plates covered.

Went out to confront them, one guy got out asking me what I’m going to do about it. Neighbor came walking down the road, the other driver also got out of his truck. Neighbor yells asking them if they understand the Castle Doctrine, because they are on private property, he pulls his jacket back to show his gun and asks me to call the cops. At this point both try and get back into their trucks, and I have the one guy by his jacket. He is too fast for me, gets loose and runs back to his truck. They both got away, left, I have the jacket though. Nothing in the pockets and it smells a little.

Very surprised, first incident in seven years.

Makes me think of the Nancy Guthrie case, what is wrong with people?

Probably should be looking at adding a Rottweiler to my to Cattle dogs.
