This little monster has been with me for the past 13 yrs.
Older than the Gen2, the marriages, older than half the grandkids
Troubles walking, hearing, vision fading, no appetite.
What the f*ck am i gonna do without her, and will I have the courage to do the right thing?

Hate to see it and won't try to convince you one way or the other about what to do. That's your decision and should be respected by all. Just know that she has been a good companion for you and put her trust in you. Part of that companionship is to know that each will do what is best for the other and can/will move on when necessary.

My wife and I had this conversation with one of the elderly ladies we look after, her two very elderly dogs were suffering through life and not enjoying themselves any longer.....she had to make the right decision based on their needs and not her own...

The same decision we made regarding the cat we had for 18 yrs.....her life was becoming very limited and no longer enjoyable for her.....we were watching her suffer more and more each day......

It's a very sad thing to have to face......very sad.......

We know handguards are worth their weight in gold for any off-road bike...and I cringe at what a set of tires costs these days...let alone two sets...
I’m probably a lot fussier about my tyres than I should be. My own worse enemy as far as my budget go’s. Not sure why as I’m certainly not like that about other things.

I have favourite brands, favourite sizes, I like matched pairs changed together. I buy tyres that are well beyond what I need for the majority of my riding. The need for tyres with high grip / short life is pretty questionable with cruise control on going to get my morning coffee!

I guess it gives me peace of mind knowing I won’t find their limits. I have a spare pair of tyres on rims for one of the bikes, I’m sure they’d be fine, they just aren’t my preferred choice. Part of me says they are just sat there aging, use them up, part of me says why use tyres you know don’t like.

I’m not one known for making wise financial decisions.

Been through it twice.

A cat I never thought I’d feel that way about, jobs, relationships, even a wife came and went, but for 18 years every day she was there for me. I only took her home because she was obsessed with getting at a mates pet finches and he’d had to cage her as a kitten.
She was old when I left the country, but an elderly lady wanted company for her similar age house cat. I handed over a heap of food, gave her the contents of my wallet, drove a few streets away, parked up and cried my eyes out.

More recently my last Cattle Dog / Blue Heeler was 14. He wasn’t even supposed to be mine, he was the dog of a step son who’d moved out. We just bonded, had a connection. He was only ill for a short while and didn’t suffer. My wife was with him at the end. I should have been but wasn’t, I still regret it.

I’ve never had kids, never been close to my family. Quite a few of my family and friends have passed away, more so recently, from old age and illness to motorbike and car crashes, but I’ve been more upset over a cat and a dog than any person.

Not everyone get the same connection to their animals, I get that, that’s OK, but I have sympathy for those that do.

Update: How much do you think it costs to euthanize an old dog?
Brembo RCS-17 MC + Spiegler stainless lines = $600
Or a dyno flash tune from Tuning Services | Motorsport Exotica
Def burying the old girl in the backyard
Our neighbor had his dogs cremated and made a shadow box.......it was pretty nice, he had paw prints done in plaster cast and a picture of he and his wife with the dogs and their collars in it.

But I know anything vet related isn't inexpensive.....

Our other neighbor just had his dog fixed and he was shocked at the cost....

It depends on the vet, many of them are sympathetic of the situation, and charge little or nothing...at least around here.
Our dog was very sick and suffering, and not that old.
If they are just old and slowing down, but are not in noticeable bad pain, I couldn't put them down.

I took him into the city with me today, he’s spent most days of the last few years on acreage and doesn’t see a lot of folk. He didn’t flinch. Took no notice of the traffic or the amount of folk. I think I disliked it a lot more than him.

Ran 3.0 miles for the first time since catching a cold in November.
Well done.

I tested positive for Covid last year, a month or two later I felt fine, I run a timed 3.1 mile (5K) and my times were well down, went from 31-something to 35-something and most of the time I had to walk part of it.

It’s only recently I’ve run the full 3.1 mile without walking, although my times aren’t back to where I’d like.

Dang. That's rough.

Do you know anything about asthma? My Dr gave me two different inhalers. One for everyday (steroid), one for as needed. They really help.

For as long as I can recall, I have been compelled to maintain my running as I get short of breath without it. I am wondering if I have had asthma all these decades and not know it.

Steroids you say?

Did you form an Austrian accent and have the urge to pose in front of a mirror kissing your biceps?

I was at one of the elderly ladies house we care for (she is in respite care right now and not home) while the plumbers changed out her toilet before she comes home...

I've used these plumbers a few times and one of them has drooled over my bike.....he asked me if I rode my bike very much last season and when I replied, the younger guy (and apprentice) said "you ride?" when I told him I did he asked me if I rode a Harley....I guess I have that look about me....

I said "no, a Hayabusa" and then showed him a picture....the young guy whistled and said "when you ride a bike, you really ride a bike......I've heard all about Hayabusas and that bike looks awesome"

I thanked him and said that most young people don't know what a Hayabusa is so it's nice that I've met one that does.....

He said he wanted to get a bike but checked insurance on the bikes he likes (all 650s) and the cost is stupid expensive.....so he gave up....

I said the insurance companies should be giving new riders/drivers the benefit of the doubt and if they keep their driving records clean, they are GTG, if they rack up tickets, their insurance rises as a result......instead they gouge the crap out of young people who need a vehicle to get to work but can't because they can't afford the insurance......it's a self licking lollipop....
