Weird Dyno Number Update

Hello all, I was complaining a couple weeks back because a shop in town told me that my bone stock 05 made 154 hp at the rear wheel. At 5300 feet. I told them they were full of crap, because that happens to be the same horsepower that most stock busas make at sea level. They insist they're not full of crap, and that their techs are fully trained...so well trained that they don't know how to use the RPM section of the dyno and handed me a peak HP at 155 mph in 4th gear graph. Now I don't really care how much hp I make blah blah blah, I care how much hp I gain when I start my mods, and if I'm right and they don't know how to use a dyno, then I gotta find another shop. Any one with stock dyno numbers, please chime in, thanks.

Mine pulled a best of 164 HP at about 755 feet in 4th gear.  Top speed on the DYNO in 4th was over 200 mph.  they don't need to go above 4th.   I don't know what speed my HP peaked at...

Stock motor, stock gears, had about 3000 miles on it.

Top speed on the dyno in 4th gear could not have been 200 mph.

I had a guy tell me the bikes shouldn't be run in 4th for full power.
I ask why and he tryed to explain. I thought about it for a while.
.I use to run a truck dyno and never ran them in over drive
because the engines would bog down. What I learned is the dyno don't care what gear you are in or how fast you are going. Anyway, I figure it like this. A busa was meant to go the fastest. So to do that it would have to put out its maximum hp in top gear. So, why wouldn't they be run in top gear for max hp?

What make dynanometer? The speed (mph) might not be calibrated because I didn't really think they cared what speed, just RPM. Mine was done in 6th gear on a FactoryPro. Do a search, there are several threads with data you can use.

Top gear speed on the Busa if computer limited. The bike will not run over 184 without a TRE or other mods

Higher speeds are possible on the DYNO, there is no wind resistance to slow the bike down, It is just the bike vs. the machine...

HP has nothing to do with the gear selection. In a manner of speaking. The gear selection determines what speed is attained at certain engine speeds.

You are correct. I did my research and that ( and more technicals ) is what I found. I also had mine run in 6th on a FactorPro. The guy who ran it is the one who told me they should be run in 6th for a max hp reading.

Not to mention you still have to consider gearing

Wind resistance, etc. The machine will only do so much. Regardless of HP and Torque the gearing will be the limiting factor in top speed on a Dyno.
