I have a ticking on the left side of the head that's getting worse and pretty sure its one of the valves. How hard are they to adjust? I'm pretty mechanicly inclined and have a lot of tools and specialty tools also. Thanks for the help its in need of it.

They are shim under bucket style valves. lift tank, remove airbox, yank the valve cover off and check your clearances. Remember to rotate the engine so the valves are relaxed!

Is it necessary to remove the throttle bodies? I was reading the manual the other day on this, I'm going to be checking mine tomorrow in the hunt for my awesome engine knocking noise that has mysteriously disappeared now....

Checking valves is easy. Adjusting valves is a lot harder.
