Whats up people. just joined over from SH.org, hence my post count.
I will be goin to the track next week for the first time ever. Just wondering what some of your runs looked like on your first try. I'm sure they improved, but be honest. First time had to be in the toilet.
What was your worst and best times...especially the 60 foot.

I was always GOOD!!! J/K I used to run a water-cooled gsxr before my busa and they are very simular in laucnching so it was an easy transfer. I went a 10.0 something first time on a Busa. And just went 9.30 @ 152 stock length and foot shifting and I weigh 195 #'s on a "modified" one(mine). How much do you weigh and have you ever been to the track on a bike? My 60' on the 9.30 pass was 1.58. It's the 330' that is the magical #! Good luck!!!!!!!!!

I weigh 185#, been ridin a long time. not just toolin around town. I kinda ride every day like i'm in a friggin race anyway, so I can handle the quick shifts and rpm control. I never have been on an actual track, but I feel confident. My real concern is tire pressure. I usually run at 32#. feels good for the way I ride. But I read in the drag mags to drop it to 22 - 25 #. Not sure how I feel about that.
any thoughts

Yep, what streaker said....you should be pulling no less than 11s. Just make sure you don't loop the bike tryin ta get a hard launch.

Where on the east coast do you live? When I ran my bike at the track with a stock tire with minimal mods I ran about 25#'s of pressure. If you go too low it will cause the tire to "tuck" in. Which means instead of a flat contact patch, the center of the tire will tuck in and you'll be launching on the outer edges of the tire. Every tire is different with what tire pressure works best.

I'm from Jersey. I live 5 minutes from Raceway Park. I think I'll stick with 30# of pressure at first and see how it goes.
Thanks for the input

I'll be there (Raceway park) on Saturday. You should come and race your bike in Top Street.

You think a rookie runner has a shot in hell. OK, give some details. Are you traveling or are you from around here?

I live in CT and will be there about 1:30. Top streetbike is a series they run at E-Town and is very competative. It's bracket racing, so anyone can win. All you have to do is be in the top 32 to qualify. If you don't qualify you are able to run test and tune for the remainder of the night.
Here are the rules:

Open to street sport bikes, full street trim, current license and registration, no wheelie bars, no slicks, no delay boxes, stock factory suspension, swing arms (max. 60" wheelbase-rear tire cannot extend past the rear fender), nitrous oxide permitted, number & dial in plates required, tether kill cord required, Snell 85 or better full face helmet, leather jacket, full finger leather gloves, long pants, high top shoes, boots, or sneakers required to cover ankle, stock or after market muffler required (if it's too loud, you can't run), bikes over 120 mph require one piece or two piece zip together leathers (jackets that sufficiently overlap leather pants are permitted).
