Well got me a 2012 this year, have put on 620k so far this year, what a monster of a bike, she sure turns heads..tires say 42psi im running 38psi just wondering what everbody has for psi is there a magic number.the girlfriend says see will go for a ride as long as I stay off the highway.so it looks like I will be riding solo...Lol

I run 36 & 36.

IMO the highway is much safer then backroads and busy streets less chance of a pull out or animals darting out in front of you.

Very nice. I normally run 40 front and rear. You may want to run a little less as Lankee does if you ride aggressive. Congrats. :)

It's rider and ride dependent. 42 psi from memory is the max. I run around 32/32 unless I'm doing a long interstate trip somewhere.

if im going on a long road trip 35 and above but when im just riding and want that extra contact patch for super grip, about 29 to 31psi

First and most important, you have killer taste in bikes. Congrats.................rear tire for me 38psi front 36psi

Pretty bike you got there!

On my Gen 1 I run 35 front and 37-38 rear for average solo riding and twisties stuff. 38 front and 40 rear for 2 up on the same or solo extended slab. 40 front and 42 rear for 2 up extended slab. 31-32 front and 29-30 rear for track days.

44 psi front and back - please explain why you guys put in so little? the front starts to wobble big time in curves under 40 psi, its like rolling over eggs,
I drive since 15 years with little bit more than recommended,
you do know that low pressure heats up the rubber much more dont you? I dont drive over 180 mph (and I do over 180) with low pressure

when I drive my car over 150 mph on german autobahns , yes, it too has little bit more in - I m still alive!

All tires heat up especially in hot weather. So if you have them already high at 44psi they will go higher.

Running tires in the 30's will wear them out quicker, but I understand that many think they grip better with lower pressure.

I usually run them 40-42 but I admit I haven't checked them in a few weeks.
I guess I need to get those 83 degree valve stems, then I might be more inclined to check them a little more often.

I agree Sebastian, I keep the tire pressure at the recommended levels in the manual. Unless on a track I see no reason to change, the engineers have the best slide rulers and know what they are doing (mostly).

For twisties I run 32/32 or 34/34 depending the tire I am using. Highway runs 38/38 or 40/40. Now reason for lower pressure is to allow the tire to grip the road better. The tire is allowed to flex as needed. Now to low its a slug to move around and the tires tread cups upward and loose traction. Now higher pressure keeps the tire from flexing which means less grip, but the return is better fuel mileage. Less road friction due to less tire contact and slightly taller rear tire ratio over lower pressure.

I'll broaden the range a bit. My rear tire reads 18psi right now and will go up to 55psi in a couple weeks, figure that one out.

Off Highway use in both cases.

Afterwards it'll get changed back to a pilot race tire for on road use and settle in about 36psi.

I do not know how low pressures behave at quarter-mile drag but if you keep the throttle open in last gear until half a tank is gone you want the tire veryyyy hard and un-wobbly

and I say it again, I dont like curves at all with the hayabusa with low pressure, I always feel I m loosing the complete tire

but be me guest, please someone try 30psi on front tire on a curvy road

this fat fat bike needs straights, anyone driven a 1000cc lately? THATS how bikes should behave in curves, like a train,
but the hayabusa likes is straight, and I too

thats why I bought my 3rd one
I like it straight and fast, until tanks empty,
and right after my fear of a broken chain is that a tire overheats and blows up due to the heat
