That's only 1/2 of the equation.

I'm assuming you're looking at performance and not cosmetic.

1)Tire width
180 = Cheaper and lighter than 190
190 = Bigger contact patch than a 180 and lighter than a 200
200 = Bigger contact patch than a 190 and heaviest tire

2)Tire profile
50 = Contact patch is biggest in the center
55 = Contact patch is biggest on the side

Now you have to decide what you want your tire to do. What type of riding do you do?
If you wear out your tire in the center first, then I recommend a 50 profile tire.
If you wear out your tire on the side first, then I recommend a 55 profile.
These recommendations are just a general statement. Even if you wear out your center first, but like knowing you have a larger contact patch on the side of your tire, definitely go for the 55 profile.

So know that you have an idea of what you want, here's what they make;
180/55 That's it, no 50 profile in 180 tire.
190/50 and 190/55 I run lots of trackdays and run a 190/55
200/50 That's it, no 55 profile in a 200 tire.

Dude, you know your rubbers! Honestly I didn't even know enough about them to consider all that. I'm just a simple street rider. I don't race or anything, I just ride around town and I'll maybe stretch it out on the highways every once in awhile. I bought the bike new with a 190/50, tried the 200/50 and now that I'm shopping for my 3rd, I was just wondering if there was a performance difference. After reading that I think I'm going back to the 190/50. Thanks!

Could have sworn I saw a 200/55 made by Pirelli when I was looking at tires whilest sitting on the John.

Pirelli makes a racing tire, a slick, diablo superbike that comes in a 200/65.

But no 200/55 for Pirelli
