The idea of a Vegas Ride

Nijinsky too.
And then there were 10.

I posted on Sin City Sportbikes but haven't found a "guide" just yet. I don't know the area very well, and Doc too busy that weekend. I guess if all else fails we'll get a map and make our own ride.

I'm trying to get down there Thursday nite and returning Sunday

OK, I'll be up on Friday night and coming home on Monday. Can't wait, do you think I can find a $1 blackjack table ??

Cheapest I find here is $2 at 1 casino and $3 at the others. Got hammered on $10 one night though!!!

Finally got ahold of my friends in Vegas. They will be around that weekend and know the area and good roads well, so one of them said he's show us some good twisties if we want. Either way he will probably come along for atleast one ride.

Just so everyone knows...I do not know the area...lol. Just moved here a few mos ago. If we end up grabbing a map and exploring that will be cool. I'm getting some work done on the bike by a place in Vegas next week. One of these guys might come along and ride, or give me a few suggestions as to where to take a trip and ride. I'll have more info next wed.

I asked one of the guys (Busapilot) at Sin city to take us on the Death Valley ride, Doc Busa recommended it, and I did it last year. We'll see. It was long and fast.

Charles, I'll bring some bones and fade you two bits!

Looks like we will leave sometime Friday afternoon/eve. Not sure what time we will get in though...depends on LA traffic!

Bones (dice)
fade (bet)
two bits (25c)

I got a map and checked out a Death Valley ride for Sat.
I figured the Lake Mead ride on Sun with the Sin City guys.

We need to figure out gas stops for the Death Valley ride. Can you get gas in Furnace Creek on Sun? We could take the 160 to Tecopa, then to Shoshone and top off the gas, then go through Death Valley to Dante's Peak, then back down to Furnace Creek, get gas and then zip back to Vegas.
Anybody else have ideas?

This just in...
The Sin City guys are meeting at Terrible's/Chevron at Lake Mead and Hollywood at 10am for the Lake Mead ride on Sunday.

ok, I think I'm out. Picked up my 05LE this week, and am still in the break-in process. From what I understand, the worst thing you can do at this stage is run the engine for a prolonged time at a steady RPM, and running down the I-15 for a few hours doesn't sound like a good idea...

If I have this wrong, let me know; I really want to do this trip but not at the expense of a smooth engine.

All that you have to do is to very the RPM's....what causes the problem is that excessive heat builds up when you cruise at a constant speed.

How many miles do you have on your bike

only about 100. I got it late Tuesday and have been working too much to ride a lot...

You still have a week to get those miles up there...lol. Don't know about the break in thing though. I just did it to the manual...don't rev over blah, blah, blah. Got really sick last week so I didn't get a chance to look things over. Definately want to do the Death Valley ride. I don't know where Tecopa is but I'm only about a half hour from Shoshone. I live on Route 372, which is off the 160. Anyone decided where they are staying yet? Do I need to check out rooms here in Pahrump? PM me if you need my phone number.

Sounds good to me Owen

Shortboarder; as BA Busa said you just need to vary rpms. Change gears and change speeds to avoid running at a prolonged same rpm. Its no big deal
