Starter clutch upgrade

I have a 2000busa...starter clutch is making all kinds of noise. Is the gen2 assembly a direct swap? I can get the cover, gears, clutch, and starter motor from a gen2 for $300 from a friend.....starter clutch replacement for my bike was almost $200 so I need to know if this will fit.

I understand the 03-07 is a direct replacement but how bout this gen2 stuff

Just go up to 03 or better.

Gen 2 starter clutch won't fit, as cipher says, later models busa's will upto '07.
