That would be my guess as well.... But then if there are no broken tooth parts in the sproket cover it could be actual wear damage caused be a defective sprocket, weak metal, etc, etc. I've never seen anything like it personallyI'll place my bet on the chain being too loose...causing it to seat improperly riding a little high on the teeth...
I guess that it could have broken the cover and caused the chain to come off and that could have led to some serious damage or even locked the rear end up...Dang it really sucks whatever the cause ... Any risk of the sprocket breaking and damaging other parts of the bike?
The "Ninja Eater" has spoken...Make sure it was a Chrom Molly sprocket if it was AFAM. I went through 3 Sproket Specialists until I finally went with a Chrom Molly. Als very very importnat to make sure the Cush drives in the rear wheel are good. Also do not use sight on the lines for making the wheel even. Most of which I am sure you have been doing but worth the caution. I had 4 turbo riders tell me that the front sprockets should not go. BULL poop until you get a strong one. If those sprockets are not heat treat right they go fast.
I'll be running 18/40 soon...16 T front sprocket on a Turbo busa
i think you will be happy with the power on the bottom and top with the 18/40. If you start running way over 300hp go up to a 19/40. i love the 18/40 top end is abot a true 212mph and you get there I a mile or less.I'll be running 18/40 soon...16 T front sprocket on a Turbo busa
