I always heard that too - but I drove all over WV and parts of KY, OH and TN along the Ohio river a few years ago and I can see why they are the way they are. Everything is carved out of the side of a mountain... towns, homes, industry... it was wild driving some of those roads. I had to stop for directions in the middle of nowhere and they were as nice as could be knowing full well I wasn't from 'round these parts! I guess I can understand part of what makes people "different" from what I'm used to...

gotta be honest, being from KY isnt all that bad. i moved from Northern KY to NE Ohio a few yrs back and lemme tell ya... it was a big difference. i guess i was jsut so used to the "southern hospitality" that we had in KY. i will say that most of KY is super rural, but where am from was about 5 mins from Cincy so we lived life like the city folk'. and i will be the first to admit..... the drunker i get, the more my southern twang takes over....
