Nicholas Todd Pekearo and Eugene Marshalik, two of the city's nearly 4,500 auxiliary police officers, responded to the shooting and approached Gavin, who crossed the street and fired at them. Auxiliary officers are civilian volunteers who wear uniforms, are unarmed and help patrol streets.

I carry two hand guns a tazer and body armor and sometimes you still feel uncomfrotable going into certin situations.

I actually feel safer in NYC than Atlanta, but you are right, if I am in a uniform, I will have a firearm.

If I am reading this correctly, why would anyone in their right mind approach a person who had been firing a gun, unarmed. Why not wait for backup with weapons, or did they want to be victom #2
