I met a guy who told me how he ended up in a wheelchair. He was riding one day and when he came to the stop sign he put his feet down and one side touch and the other side did not and he went over. He was not wearing a helmet and his head hit the road. He never walk or ride again he was paralyzed . After that day I always wear my helmet. So even in these hot days always wear your helmet.

What did Rayabusa say? "Sweat washes off, rash doesn't" or in this case, spinal injuries.

Thats a NO BRAINER !!!!!  (No Pun Intended)

Riding without a helmet is not an option for me so I just got a Shoei X-11 helmet with the removable liner and cheek pads that can be washed.

When I went down last Saturday, no head injury...because of my helmet, it was scruffed and small crack from a rock in the ditch. WEAR YOUR HELMETS PLEASE!

Your head is the Only thing that Control's the Rest of your Body..... THAT'S IT !!!!

Brain Surgeons and Scientist still don't understand the Brain Very Well Now Days...

But COMMON Sense (If You Have Any) Dictates you should Probably do Everything in your Power to Protect it. Kinda Like Your Pen..

Even for small stuff like bugs or debris. I do a lot of night riding after work and one of my concerns is the bugs, of course among other things. I can't imagine riding without a helmet..

From a law enforcement perspective, I've seen plenty of crashes involving cycles. I have yet to see one where the rider came out worse because they had a helmet on. I have seen more than my share of those who may still be above ground and breathing today had they worn a helmet.

I've also seen plenty of crashes at low speeds with serious, very serious, injuries and death.

The last crash I helped with, rider was on a Busa, not wearing a helmet, big boat of a car driven by a very nice old lady attempted a left hand turn in front of the Busa. Very slow speed crash, rider got huge gash to the melon and got to sit in the road till medics arrived not even knowing what day it was.

I can't stress protective gear enough!

For the life of me I can't figure out why a helmet should or could even be a question.

Aside from the saftey aspect, comfort from high winds and bugs...there are enough different choices of helmets to actually add to you and your bike.

I get comments on my helmet all the time, from walking thru wall mart to the Kawi girl escort demo rider at daytona...

Find something you like and wear it

+1 on ALWAYS, ALWAYS wearing a helmet!!

My sweet, loving hubby suprised me with a brand new helmet today!! Some wives would not see this as one of those "aaawwweee" moments, but I see it as him loving me so much that he doesn't want me to get hurt.

I'll go about a +10 on that.

I was at a place drinking a few beers after a run all day.
As usually happens, someone usually has a few too many beers and has to show everyone else how to do a "burnout" (actually a crash).
He did put his beanie helmet on, I do have to give him credit for that, BUT did not buckle the strap,DUH!!

Well you all probably know the rest of the story, but, when he crashed doing his "burnout" his little beanie went flying and he ended up with a gash about 3 inches long on HIS beanie instead of the helmet.

Moral of the story, "A helmet doesn't do near as much protecting when it falls off"

Remember to buckle them too.

That is sad. I got tired of hearing people tell me "It's my choice." Now I just respond with "Don't cry to anyone else if you get seriously hurt because of your choice". Riding on two wheels is already dangerous enough. We don't need to load the barrel with extra rounds too.

Protect Your Head !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Face it Even with FULL GEAR, you Crash at High Speed's. Your Gone Even With a Helmet !!!

So Wear it Untill Your Number is UP !!!!!!!!!!!!

I see people ALL THE TIME wearing their helmet resting on the top of their head (full face helmets) ?? You guys know what I'm talking about, right ??

I don't know how people ride without a helmet, I do it more for comfort than anything, I think. Just the wind is enough to drive me nuts. The other day coming home on I-95, from GPW's shop I got NAILED with something, right on the top of my helmet, and it was loud, and heavy, probably would have knocked me out if I didn't have a helmet on ?
