Anyone who has replaced their chain and/or sprockets get me started, nothing in the manual.

I'll be in the garage, so please give me that good advice.

remove the left panel and sprocket cover

take the CS off first put a piece of wood through the rear wheel and swing arm to keep it from turning and then remove the CS

once that is done put the new CS on and then cut the old chain

remove the rear wheel and put the rear sprocket on

rivet new chain on and ride

Well, good advice as usual. I have removed the left fairing, removed the coolant overflow and bunji strapped it out of the way, removed the shifter, removed the kick stand interlock switch, removed the front sprocket cover and bunji strapped it out of the way, and found out I don't have a socket that will fit the CS nut

Does anyone know the size of this nut ?

Question ? Is there two nuts associated with the front sprocket ? It looks loke there might be an outer nut, washer, and inner nut.

I'm using vague terms here but I was told to mark the shifter so when I put it back on it was in the exact same spot. I've removed these items to clean my front sprocket but don't remember for the life of me what size nut - it was trial and error for me. Does a neighbor have some tools?

Just change the rear sprocket to 42 (easier), THEN if you want more pull change the front to 16.

To late I hit the clutch with the cover removed. Don't remember, but I think I used a 20mm to remove the nut only to find that it had an Allen Screw in the middle. Cleaning up everything with WD-40. Broke the chain, easy enough. Chain removed. Thinking about replacing the rear sprocket now. If I can't find a big enough socket for the sprocket nut; thinking 30 or 32mm I might just leave the front sprocket alone.

Any advice on the clutch issue mentioned above, or about leaving the front sprocket.

Your generosity is overwhelming. I can probably find what I need here. Can you tell me the size of the socket ?

If you want to ride over let me know. I need a 32mm socket and probably a BMF pull handle

Bought a 32mm socket today, cost me $5.00. Came home and found that the inner nut was barely more than hand tight. Thought I'd have to fight it. Got it back together and now I'm off to install my first master link.
