New here, appreciate any advice.

Through a friend, I have found a K9 Gen2 100% stock with +-16,000 miles on the ODO.

The bike has been sitting on stands in a closed attached garage for some time.

Immaculate, not a scratch, bone stock, starts right up, tank seems clean inside. Comes with two pitbull stands.

Owner claims to have worked many years as an auto tech, serviced the bike himself. Oil through the little sight glass looks clean. Brake and clutch fluids look clean. Looked at the coolant through the fairing with a flashlight, looks clean also. Idles smooth. He has the original invoice, owners manual, hump and toolkit. He says it went to the dealer for 3 recalls, clutch and inverter twice.

Owner wants 9,5k for it, not negotiable.

Anything I should look at further, or be cautious about?

My main concern is parts availability for a 17 years old motorcycle?

Welcome,

Buy it and and enjoy it as it seems to be a well taken care of bike.....these things have been known to go over 200,000 miles with the usual maintenance.....

The Gen 2 was produced from 2008 to 2020 so parts aren't an issue.....

Once you get it, we like pictures......

Welcome to the org. The regulator/rectifier was the main issue but you mentioned it had the recall done. As others posted above, parts are readily available so no worries about that.

I had a silver K9 and loved it...miss that bike uggh; what color is the one you're looking at ?

Silver, with the stock silver wheel rims.

Confirmed, will pick it up on Saturday. Sadly the original owner has developed medical issues, back related and can no longer ride. Very nice guy.

Been on BMW's Guzzi's and way back a Triumph Trident three cylinder famous for oil leaks. Will be my first Japanese bike.

There was no plan to do this, friend and I were talking about the old days riding dirt bikes and he told me his neighbor had a bike he no longer rides. We went over, chatted, and it happened.

Quick update, picked up the bike and took it home on the back of my truck. Will post pictures later, but basically a stock unmolested 2009 in silver.

It looks brand new.

First ride impressions for someone new to the Hayabusa is wow.

The torque at low RPM is magnificent, keep it in 6th gear, twist the throttle and the power is there immediately. Twist the throttle in third and hold on.

Hit some twisties on bumpy pavement and the bike was stable and steadfast. Very impressive.

Hi. Have a lot of fun. It is a great bike. I have a Gen 1 a 2003 with a supercharger on it 290 HP street or 360HP street/race.

LOL, the Colnago cost more than what I paid for the Busa.

About the bike as a new Hayabusa rider, I did oil change, filter change, radiator fluid change and brake/clutch fluid change, but really the bike needed nothing. Getting those plastics off took a bit of head scratching, but patience paid off.

Amazing machine, but this is like putting candy in front of a little kid. In third gear, look up, twist the throttle, look down and it is at 140. Even from 35 in 6th, twist the throttle and hold on. Need to decide if I will keep it long term, maybe get some more life insurance. :D
