Ever wander what those screens on the front of the air intakes are really there for? I do! I notice that it does a nice job of slicing and dicing anything that comes in their path, and makes a total mess to clean. There may be benifits to removing them, such as if a bumble bee flew in, at the next light he would just fly back out....The pro-bug people would love this one! Also, removing them should improve performance as the screens look like they aren't very aerodynamic at all. If I was Tim
the tool man taylor I'm sure I could find many more resons for taking them off....Do you know anyone who has a 160 HP. twin intake vacuum??? Has anyone ever tried to remove these things?, and if so is it difficult?

I removed mine when I had the bike painted. You pretty much have to remove the nose piece to get them off.

I'd hate to get a piece of gravel in my airbox. Based on some calculations a couple of us decided that the air intakes suck considerably more air than the engine needs. The net gain of removing them will be zero.

I decided to leave the ram air mesh alone becos after removing my air filter for air blowing the other day ... how and when it managed to capture a morth(2cm in size) and a small grasshopper hostage i don't know!!
