Radar detector

I had to cut out a small space in the helmet foam for the receiver module.

I highly recommend this mod. A radar detector is pretty much useless without this, or some type of audio alert earpiece.

I've had one of those for some time now. Hooked up with an escort X-50. Great setup. Bought the whole works from "Radar Roy"!

As a matter of fact, it saved me again tonight. I was coming home after dark when the alert went off and sure enough, up ahead was a State Patrolman with radar just waiting on some poor sport bike rider. I love this unit and don't leave home without it!

You just have to be careful not to leave the switch in the on position when you put your helmet away or the batteries will be dead the next time you use it!

WOW that's awesome.  I was wondering if they made a heads up display for helmets...not to mention accessories for my Valentine! :-)  Sweeeeeet Where did you mount the radar detector unit and with what?

I saw someone's post stating they had a Escort X50 radar detector with a HARD heads up display. Can someone discribe the equipment, how it mounts, and especially details on the heads up display?

Thanks. Everything answered with a single click

That's not actually a "Heads-up" display, but a red indicator light inside your helmet, but why argue with semantics.

Did you see the SportVue "Heads-up" display that was demo'd at Laguna Seca?

SportVue heads-Up It displays Speed, RPM, Gear Selected, and Radar signal inside of your helmet. It looked pretty cool looking through the visor. They have a program where a club can get one demo unit for free for 60 days to share between members. If four members buy one, the demo unit is free.

I think this is really cool. I also think that a radar detector is useless without it. I am always leaving my turn signal on, and I may be way down the road before I look down and notice the flashing dash light. Do most people agree that a good digital radar detector like the X-50 actually works? My past experience has been that they are always going off and that instant on radar seems to peg you anyway.

Well a radar detector only truely works when you got other vehicles ahead of you that the radar can shoot before you get to it.
cause yes if you come over a hill or around a bend and the popo is sitting there and you are the only one around and you radar goes off, you are caught ! ! ! lol

I had an old Sportster, and HD's idea of a auto off blinker was to put a push button on each grip that you had to hold down. It actually worked better than it sounds. When your hands had to get busy, and you had to release the button, if the guy behind you hadn't seen the signal he was going to peg you anyway.

Having to turn a blinker off is just totally unnatural feeling when car's do it for you. I just can't seem to remember half the time.

Is there ANYTHING to get to make the turn signals go off automaticlly?

??

I am always looking like an idiot with my blinkers on a mile down the road....LMAO
My Yamaha cruiser bike has auto-cancelling turn signals that come standard. They will cancel after you make a turn, or after you ride more then 300 feet. I don't know how they work, but it does.

Here's an aftermarket unit.
