Stock 00 Busa with 3k miles - no mods
Just got back from the track - could only muster a 10.615 ET @ 129.96. Another pass 10.707@129.99. Another pass 10.933@ 131.31.
Here's an example:

.514 REACTION:
1.860 60FT:
4.785 330FT:
7.144 1/8ET:
102.74 1/8MPH:
10.916 1/4:
130.82 1/4mph

Also made 2 passes with a fellow Busa that was lowered,Apokrovic, air box mod, & 2 up in the back. I would beat him off the line but at the 1/8 mile he would come pass as if I were standing still. I weigh 235lbs, he's around 180lbs.

REACTION:
.606 60FT: .609
4.600 330FT: 4.463
6.879 1/8ET: 6.636
106.12 1/8MPH: 113.03
10.615 1/4: 10.141
129.96 1/4mph 138.98

Despite my weight I still should be above 130mph. I made sure all shifts were before 11k rpm. I usually cross the line at the top of 3rd just before 11k. I tried shifting into 4th with the same mediocre 130mph speeds. GSXRboy has been helping me at the track for the past few weeks - he feels my launches are too soft but I'm still learning the clutch. Today I was able to drag it out better to prevent bogging but I NEED the Brock mod badly. Came out harder around 5k & stood up for a second so I will practice or break it trying to get a low 10.

What am I doing wrong? I realize the 60ft is critical but I expect the hp & torque should at least get the bike in the 135mph range. What times did you all run stock? All advice and feedback appreciated. Sorry for the long speech but I'm pissed!!

only my 6th pass i got a 10.21 138mph bike is lowered 2 inches and strapped i leave about 2500 and roll out 60' 1.77 the one thing i noticed on previous passes 10.50 to 10.90 and i will get flamed for saying this is but i noticed the throttle wasn't fully opened i'm hoping for 9's next time out i'm 230lbs with leathers

I've never been able to pull the throttle all the way open either. I just shift the bike when it get to 10,500. If the can get it wide open I would have a 9 second pass. My best 330' is 4.34.

I noticed the first couple of times racing my stocker that I was hitting the rev limiter in 3rd and not noticing! - this will give you about 128-129 across the line!

hooking 4th gives me 133MPH.

I'm not much of a drag racer and could only manage 10.6s myself - I weigh 235 lbs.

As you are matching my ET whilst (I presume) hitting the limiter you should have a few tenths to come by hooking 4th. (not using the clutch of course!)

SJBUSA, its normal for the cans to turn black. Read my post on this old thread, it should help you at the strip. especially if your a beginner. :)

BTW, hotter the engine temp, leaner the mixture. Also less fuel, less power.

Thanks Dangermouse - I tried 4th also with the same speed. I even shifted to 4th early(10k) with the same result.

i went to the strip in my busa last sat , bike weighs 524 with me 748 lbs my 60 sucked as i was working on shift points, all 3k launches to keep 60 constant shifted at 10k (i was in 4th maybe 100 feet before the finish) 10.83 136.04
shifted 10250 10.707 137.25 shifted 10500 10.638 137.78. i needed 2 more passes to go 10750 and 11k but a 2000 pro stock bodied firebird slammed into the wall at over 170 mph and track was shut down for 1 1/2 hrs....

my 60 foots were all 2.03-2.07 times.
i figure i get down to high 1.70-low 1.80's i will be easy 10.20's i weigh 205 and with full leathers (vanson-heavy ****ers) 225

Have you had the tank up? I bet you have a pinched off fuel feed line. We had a stock 99 that would run 140 in the traps. Then all of the sudden it was running 133-35mph. We checked everything. The plugs were waaay too clean. The fuel pump was clogged up under the FP regulator. We cleaned the screens and replaced the fuel lines with HD 3/8" fuel hose leaving plenty of slack. Next time to the track 10.17@141mph, bone stock, 1.88 60'. That was with a 150lb rider but the 7 mph loss is comparable to your loss. You should be running atleast 135mph. I have a buddy with a 99 with only a Micron and he runs 10.2's@138-9 he weighs 240lbs without leathers. Check your fuel lines!

Mine's probably not right as I have to run with at least a 1/3 of a tank of gas or it cuts out on full throttle. :(

Been like that since new - it's had all the recalls etc.

ZXALAN: Thanks - I'll check the lines this weekend in addition to the screens.

I also noticed the stock cans are quuite black as if the bike is running rich. I don't know if this is normal or not.

Thanks for the tips guys.

it all depends greatyl on weight /rider and snapping the wrist. gsxr boy will like this. last summer i saw a guy hit a 9.47 on a copper 99' in 99. he was also SHAWN GANN he is a prostock racer i think. nice guy. he wieghs like 130lbs. WITH LEATHERS!!! imagine the horse gained. its funny , he was just visiting someone from where ever he lives. if im not mistaken they had one of his dragged out 1100s not beaten the busa!!

Also check where the temperature sensor is located. If to hot the cpu will rich up the fuel to compensate for low fuel density. Also I heard the the cpu will rich up every time you start the engine for 30 sec with no regard to the ambient temperature. Maybe something to think of while warming up for the race?

I run 9.95sec / 255km/h with turbo and stock clutch. I have competed against stock hayabusas and I will return with their results if interested?

c_rod2000 - Ohh yeah Gann is "THE MAN" I would love to get him or another little hundred pound guy on my bike! Ryan Schnitz said he would make a pass on it and he's only 120lbs full dress with leathers. I'm 230 without my leathers, helmet, boots, and gloves. I would have to guess with my heavy road race leathers and everything else I would be around 250 full dress. Now just knock 130 off my 9.50's I would guess it would be real real real low 9's. (Like 9.0's)

I have a stock 00 Busa with no clutch mod. Just lowered. 755lbs with me on the bike. I run 10.00's-10.1's. 138-139. 111-112 in the 1/8. The trick is to leave off idle maybe 2K and just release the clutch and roll on the gas.

mdbusa, what do you weigh? you say trick? your 60 foot cant be that good .......yes the busa has tq but if it were that "easy" every one would run 10 teens there first time out..........

I tried the low rpm launch at 3k - bogged 1st badly. I'm leaving at around 4k rpm dragging out the clutch to prevent the bog. It appears that the average is high 130's.

I weighed the bike about a month ago at the track 530lbs. I weighed the bike and myself last Saturday 755lbs. My best 60ft. is 1.66. I usually 60ft 1.68-1.70.

sjbusa - We need to find out why your bike isn't putting down the MPH...The worst your 60' is the faster your MPH should be in the end of the 1/4...Your bike kind of has me baffled but hopefully we can figure it out soon! Try to contact Ronnie from Mirror Image next week and get a clutch mod if you can (734-547-0422) that should help out a lot with your holeshot. He may also have a 42 rear sprocket for you to, if not he can get one within a day or two. Hopefully for Wednesday you can get the 42 and clutch mod in then we'll have something to play with! I'm supposed to have my "backup" powercommander in this week or early next week so maybe I'll bring it out Wednesday and see if that helps at all. Then we can play with your fuel and see if that helps...

how the hell do you have 1.60 by just rolling on the throttle, i leave at 3 slip the clutch while adding throttle, and i still do 2.0's
i will raise the launch to 4500 and be wot before 60 foot this sat, hopefully i will be 1.70's
