Any recommendations on a stock-appearing Gen 1 passenger rear grab bar?

Oh look, Suzuki offered one... Do I need to mod the hump for these?

Do those front, tank-mount, bars work well? This actually looks like a terrific functional solution even if the aesthetics aren't my thing.

hump needs modded/cut with dremel, about the same cut-out you see under the lower rear of that passenger seat, if you want to have the hump And the bar together

I just noticed that the bike has HeliBars on it. Probably perfect for my intended use. Would these contribute to vibration putting my throttle hand to sleep after an hour? Or is this typical of the breed?

The vibration is a typical fault of the bike...

I put gel grips on mine and changed out my gloves to ones with a heavier palm...my right hand still gets buzzed to sleep sometimes..

It seems it is the nature of the beast....almost every Suzuki I had suffered from the same ailment....

12 to 17 oz! If I skip a few desserts, we could be at net-zero...

Any throttle lock recommendations?

I’ve heard that Kaoko is about the best since Throttlemeister doesn’t make them anymore. I lucked out and bought a Throttlemeister with HD bar ends years ago and it still works beautifully. And FWIW, my 06 has never had a buzz in the bars. I also have HeliBars. When the weather’s right it’s only 760 miles to Yosemite NP, about 22 miles from me.:firing:

I used to love remote Arizona desert roads on my Ninja 600.

I would actually love to learn to ride a street bike well. Not fast, just competently. I need to pull out my Keith Code books. Maybe try a few OMRRA classes / track days at PIR. Slowly.

Start with suspension sag.
You'll need that to be right to handle correctly, and for any track day.

Thx boss. You ever try one of those fancy-pants sag measuring devices?

Motion-Pro makes great stuff, but a metric tape measure is cheap and easy, and you are only measuring from reference points you choose also.

If you're much over 200lbs in gear on a gen1, you will need different fork springs to get correct sag.
And, correct sag will be a firm ride on the street(as tracks are smooth and public roads can get pretty rough).
You might think the bike feels more rigid and less plush cruising around, but tip into a corner and you're confidence in the bike will go Way up, it'll rail curves.

I put Progressive springs and Race Tech G2-R Gold valves in my forks, it handles like it's on rails yet it handles rough roads pretty good too....

I think it was around $650 for both the valves and springs.

Sweet. The devil is in the details. I'm +/- 165# in my shorts. So maybe +/- 185 in gear. As many other mods are on this machine, it would not surprise me if the suspension has been played with too. Are there markings on the stock rear spring? The existing rear spring is black and adjusted just past mid way on the pre-load. Difficult to see.

Maybe I could remove a front spring to check for markings.

I once swapped a coil-over set up into a car. Getting the spring rates right made an enormous difference. Loved it.
