I'm personally not a fan of open carry.. Seems to attract too much attention especially in our state. The lefties think we are all crazy cowboys as it is, no need to give them a reason to continue thinking that..
I've been carrying most of the time since November, and I like having nobody know. There was an open carry guy here near my work in Milwaukee that got robbed just to steal his gun. That's all they took..

I hope it all works out for you, I just am not a fan of the open carriers that go out just to make a statement. I think they are doing more harm to our cause than good. :beerchug:

Not to smart putting your carry conceal card online with your name, birthdate and address online.
I could steal your identity just with that information alone.

Funny you say that. I feel more comfortable arround people who conceal carry than I do those who open carry. The way I see it is those who conceal carry are trying to protect themselves from trouble and those who open carry are inviting or looking for trouble.

Slightly off topic, I never knew what the camo cords hanging out of people's pockets were until I took my CCW course. Now when I dee people with 5 or 6 como cords hanging out their pockets I think "what a nut job".

Not a good idea. Its like look at me I have a gun! If I am a going to rob a bank and I walk in and see a gun on your side guess what? You are first person I am going to take out if I have my mind made up that I am going thru with the crime. Also it creates problems with people who are afraid of guns. No need to open carry unless you feel like its a power thing for your ego or your stuck in the wild west days. Conceal it cowboy.

In Az, I open carry on my bike for the exact reason I don't otherwise: it gets attention. I definitely noticed that people wouldn't forget where I was in traffic as much, and I subsequently got cut off less. Just gotta make sure your state allows it, and you won't be getting stopped by the cops all the time. Definitely don't feel a need to OC any other time, though.

From the CCW iPHone app:

WI Open Carry: Allowed in WI, but restricted. Not allowed in a vehicle.

Also illegal in a public building, anywhere alcohol is sold, NEAR (?) a school, in state parks or wildlife refuges, or in an ATV
--------------
Seems like too many restrictions on open carry to make it worthwhile. Bottom line: If I see someone open carry, I instinctively classify that person as a threat. Better to keep it concealed. You totally lose the element of surprise.

Open Carry requires either a badge to ward off attackers or extreme Spidey Senses and situational awareness to prevent one from snatching it from you. Unless you carry in a duty style triple retention holster it is too easy to take when up close. Are you open carrying in stores? Standing at in line at Walmart? Just too close for me. Nobody will know I may have one until the first round goes off.

Lastly it was quite silly to post your complete name and address online.
Will a mod please delete or modify his pic to cover him?

Are you going to shoot someone who cuts you off? They don't let you post to the .org from prison....that's not the kind of attention I want. And if you commit a traffic violation (speeding) while open carry - do you really want to invite the additional police attention?

IMO, this assessment is spot on the money.

I have a CCW myself for my Browning 9mm, but I would not open carry it for the exact same reasons the lankeeyankee and Schexy1 mention.

I can only imagine the vast difference in treatment one would recieve if they caused a ruckus in the hgwy while carrying openly. Anyone you cut off or got into an altercation with would call and say 'AND HE HAD A GUN!!!!'
At which point instead of being pulled over so they can hear your side you would be stopped by like forty cops all weapons drawn on you. Look into the sun as you take you helmet and sneeze and your Swiss cheese and a bunch of sorries he had a gun. Concealed it would be a lot calmer situation I think.

In New Mexico open carry can't be loaded. What good is that.:dunno:

Open Carry:
Hey mister bad guy, can you hold on until I put some bullets in my gun.

Concealed Carry:
Yes officer, I put those bullets in that bad guy.

I only open carry when I go into the back country here in Alaska and that's more for protection from the wild life. When I'm in the city I personally don't want the bad guy to know who has a concealed weapon or not. :beerchug:

Thanks for the coments and removing the pic. I think of us as all good guys and forget about the aholes out there. I will prob not open carry anymore. It make you more nervous thinking what people might do. But its nice to know I have a choice. Open carry is legal everywhere ccw is as long as you have your permit.. I was on the busa last week when it was nice out. Had my gun open on my side and passed a trooper. He saw I was carrying and just kept going. At least he knows the rules. Many LEO do not.
