Oil leak on left side of motor

I noticed some oil on the bottom of my oil pan, but wasn't sure where it was coming from, at first I thought the oil pan gasket was leaking, so I sprayed the oiled area down with some brake cleaner to remove all of the oil residue and took it out for a ride. Well it turns out that it isn't the oil pan gasket, however there is oil coming from somewhere (clutch lever side of motor) but I can't tell where. It looks like its running down behind the water pump or at least where the hose from the radiator goes into the motor...not exactly sure if that is the water pump, but I think it is. It's right in front of the counter shaft sprocket.

Anyway, does anyone care to take a stab at what it might be. It's not a huge amount of oil, but it's leaking none the less and that ain't good.

Thanks in advance for any advice you can give.

it might be the water pump O_ring #10 in the first pic.or under the slave cylinder there is a long haft goes from the left side the engine to the right side so it can push the clutches in the cover, that shaft has a seal "#29 in the second pic" for it in the block. or it might be the front counter shaft sprocket seal #34 at the third pic. remove the left fairing & the clutch slave cylinder housing & check it out.

Hmmmm...I've got a month left on my 4 year warrenty. Maybe I should let the dealer take a look at it and fix it for free. I was gonna attempt to fix it myself, but it may not be worth the trouble...I don't really like to put my bike in the shop unless I have to.

Not sure what a clutch slave support is, but my bike is a 2000 BUSA and I haven't removed anything.

btreaves, if your bike is under warrenty just take it to the dealer. it's better & cheaper

I thought i had a leak there but it was just chain lube spinning off in that area.

So is it still leaking Bugsy? Did you every get it fixed?

I thought it might be chain lube fling as well, but that's not what it is...It's definitely engine oil. It's probably one of those seals like BADASSBUSA said. I'm gonna take the plastic off over the weekend and really have a good look at it (maybe I'll snap a pic). It really looks like it's coming from the water pump or behind the water pump. I can see oil on one of the bolts that holds the water pump on. If it looks too complicated I'll just drop it off and have them repair it under warrenty.

Hey Bugsy,

Were you able to fix the leak yourself or did you hand it over to the Suzuki mechanics?

I finally got around to getting this problem fixed. It turns out that it was leaking oil out of the water pump. So they had to replace the water pump. It was covered under the 4 year warrenty.
