Not good news for the country this morning!

As I was settling into my office chair with that luscious caffeine treat called a "Latte" and the morning news on the tube, I hear the newscaster say our presidents approval is the lowest of any president in history at this time (10.5 months) into his presidency @ 47%.

It appears I'm not the only person with voters remorse. I'm now wishing I would have supported Hillary. At least she had Bill's experience to lean on.

With our country in such poor shape, we are in desperate need of strong leadership.

so much for our 2 party system. We need to get back to the basics "For the People By the People" and start electing normal people instead of politicians.

hang on, he will make a speech and everyone will feel better....

How can a person change the world in 10.5 months that it took others before him years to bring down...The ark wasn't built in a day, look how strong it was with time and help from others instead of them tearing noah down...What have you done today as you drink your latte to better the world?when was last time you donated your time to a good cause?this not aimed at just you but each and everyone that reads this message.I'm not even about politics but am about people...spare a dollar for a cup of coffee for less fortunate next time it comes upon you..if we aren't part of a soulution we are part of the problem...The world is in bad shape we as people gotta turn it around, folks make 2 times less today than 3 years ago cause they pay for the cheapest thing they can find, which in turn trickles down hill are you feeling the crunch?

I tell you I look at the people commiting suicide as they are no better than a terrosist, they make others feel like it's okay.I learned as a kid (love my parents for this lesson,Thanks mom,dad and my loving grandmothers),you must learn to do more with less so when you got more of something you learn to use it with respect and with consideration...I'm 36 yrs old not one single credit card,no motorcycle, car or truck payment, sold my trucking company & house when market was booming(made a little money),don't owe a bank nothing, anything I got is owned out right, and I thank the Lord daily for the gift to work on motorcycles, parts sales and my knowledge is just a gift but a plus. What I'm trying to say is even though I made $$ back then I didn't blow it buying a bigger house, trying to have the latest best gadgets, all the old ones worked fine, didn't buy a new truck(my 98 dodge works fine),and I don't drive it much anyways, lol.I love to volunteer helping folks less fortunate than me,and will continue too till I leave this earth....We as people have to go back to the old ways to survive like we saw our parents do as we grew(if they helped others),help your fellow man don't watch them struggle..you will get it back ten fold..

I recieved this via email a couple weeks ago... kinda interesting.

Remember Lee Iacocca, the man who rescued Chrysler Corporation from its death throes? He's now 82 years old and has a new book, 'Where Have All The Leaders Gone?'.

Lee Iacocca Says:

'Am I the only guy in this country who's fed up with what's happening? Where the hell is our outrage? We should be screaming bloody murder! We've got a gang of clueless bozos steering our ship of state right over a cliff, we've got corporate gangsters stealing us blind, and we can't even clean up after a hurricane much less build a hybrid car. But instead of getting mad, everyone sits around and nods their heads when the politicians say, 'Stay the course..'

Stay the course? You've got to be kidding. This is America , not the damned, 'Titanic'. I'll give you a sound bite: 'Throw all the bums out!'

You might think I'm getting senile, that I've gone off my rocker, and maybe I have. But someone has to speak up. I hardly recognize this country anymore..

The most famous business leaders are not the innovators but the guys in handcuffs.. While we're fiddling in Iraq , the Middle East is burning and nobody seems to know what to do. And the press is waving 'pom-poms' instead of asking hard questions.. That's not the promise of the ' America ' my parents and yours traveled across the ocean for. I've had enough. How about you?

I'll go a step further. You can't call yourself a patriot if you're not outraged. This is a fight I'm ready and willing to have. The Biggest 'C' is Crisis! (Iacocca elaborates on nine C's of leadership, with crisis being the first.)

Leaders are made, not born. Leadership is forged in times of crisis. It's easy to sit there with your feet up on the desk and talk theory. Or send someone else's kids off to war when you've never seen a battlefield yourself. It's another thing to lead when your world comes tumbling down.

On September 11, 2001, we needed a strong leader more than any other time in our history. We needed a steady hand to guide us out of the ashes. A hell of a mess, so here's where we stand.

We're immersed in a bloody war with no plan for winning and no plan for leaving.

We're running the biggest deficit in the history of the country.

We're losing the manufacturing edge to Asia , while our once-great companies are getting slaughtered by health care costs.

Gas prices are skyrocketing, and nobody in power has a coherent energy policy. Our schools are in trouble.

Our borders are like sieves.

The middle class is being squeezed every which way.

These are times that cry out for leadership.

But when you look around, you've got to ask: 'Where have all the leaders gone?' Where are the curious, creative communicators? Where are the people of character, courage, conviction, omnipotence, and common sense? I may be a sucker for alliteration, but I think you get the point.

Name me a leader who has a better idea for homeland security than making us take off our shoes in airports and throw away our shampoo?

We've spent billions of dollars building a huge new bureaucracy, and all we know how to do is react to things that have already happened.

Name me one leader who emerged from the crisis of Hurricane Katrina. Congress has yet to spend a single day evaluating the response to the hurricane or demanding accountability for the decisions that were made in the crucial hours after the storm.

Everyone's hunkering down, fingers crossed, hoping it doesn't happen again. Now, that's just crazy. Storms happen. Deal with it. Make a plan. Figure out what you're going to do the next time.

Name me an industry leader who is thinking creatively about how we can restore our competitive edge in manufacturing. Who would have believed that there could ever be a time when 'The Big Three' referred to Japanese car companies? How did this happen, and more important, what are we going to do about it?

Name me a government leader who can articulate a plan for paying down the debit, or solving the energy crisis, or managing the health care problem. The silence is deafening. But these are the crises that are eating away at our country and milking the middle class dry.

I have news for the gang in Congress. We didn't elect you to sit on your asses and do nothing and remain silent while our democracy is being hijacked and our greatness is being replaced with mediocrity. What is everybody so afraid of? That some bonehead on NBC news or CNN news will call them a name? Give me a break. Why don't you guys show some spine for a change?

Had Enough? Hey, I'm not trying to be the voice of gloom and doom here. I'm trying to light a fire. I'm speaking out because I have hope - I believe in America . In my lifetime, I've had the privilege of living through some of America 's greatest moments. I've also experienced some of our worst crises: The 'Great Depression,' 'World War II,' the 'Korean War,' the 'Kennedy Assassination,' the 'Vietnam War,' the 1970's oil crisis, and the struggles of recent years culminating with 9/11.

If I've learned one thing, it's this: 'You don't get anywhere by standing on the sidelines waiting for somebody else to take action. Whether it's building a better car or building a better future for our children, we all have a role to play. That's the challenge I'm raising in this book. It's a "Call to Action" for people who, like me, believe in America '. It's not too late, but it's getting pretty close. So let's shake off the crap and go to work. Let's tell 'em all we've had 'enough.'

My Donation:

I get up and go to work every day trying to provide a value to my employer.. (he compensates me accordingly)
I pay my bills every month (ALL of them MYSELF, no Govt freebies here)
I pay my taxes (something the guys that mooch of the govt will never do)
I VOTE.... (not just national stuff but local elections where it really counts)

I bang my pots and pans trying to wake at least one person to the "garbage" we call politicians and public policy
THEN I drink my Latte.. (sp?)

I have yet to blindly follow anyone into a train wreck... I question our leaders and I am not liking what the replies look like..

I really scares me to see some of the prevailing attitudes and circular arguments presented that simply avoid the real subject.. Hug a tree, fix the climate, send our jobs to foreign countries that have no intention of playing by the same rules...

One man, one vote sounds really good until you see the tens of millions of people on welfare, food stamps, govt assistance that are perfectly capable of working a full day. Even if it is for "public works" If you take handouts, provide us work effort to show you are worthy of free money..

Sit around the house, watching cable, eating frozen pizza all day while this country goes down the toilet? I do not think you should be allowed to vote.. (your vote was purchased IMHO by the guy that makes sure you do not have to work)

And Lee Iacocca is a hero :)

One thing for sure, to blame Obama as soley responsible for this state of affairs is absurd. I don't care what political party one is, Limbaugh, Beck and Palin are poor alternatives.
The problem really is the special interests in DC, the poiliticians are whores for the corporations. When the same pill from the same US manufacturer costs $1.00 in Canada but $22.00 in the USA, the corporatocracy is screwing we the middle class. Dems and Repubs need to stop blaming each other....that's what the top of the money food chain want us to do while Wall Street pillages our Treasury.
When I critisize President Obama, it's the disconnect between his intensity during the campaign vrs. his "softness" right now.
BTW, good post Kent! Doyle

Disapproval for undertaking the necessary clean up of the previous administration.???

He gets an A+ for perseverence.

there is no way you can pin all this mess on the "previous" administration any more than you can pin it on this one... I have not seen any action to "clean up" the previous office.. lots of speeches and appearances however... (and a few trillion in "shut up" money)

This is a culmination of years of govt failure... people jump up and vote for a president thinking that is the fix... It is not... "Top down" does not work.. "ground up" will but I find it highly unlikely most will get off their tails and do anything meaningful... (like participate in local elections to start)

Tea Party people are the ones that should be handed the "perseverance" awards... They are the indicator of a ground swell of people that are fed up and willing to stand up... unfortunately, they are bashed by those who sit home feeling guilty or approve of how things are right now....

America is about to get a wake up call, and it's called socialism. Helping others help themselves is what we need. A dollar for a cup of coffee just ends up being a tenth of a rock in most cases. I've worked hard all my life; well at least since I was six and cutting lawns for $5.00, in the mills by twelve, etc. It's really unimaginable what goes on in our welfare state. Unfortunately the job I've had for the past fourteen years has given me plenty of insight. It's obvious that some here don't really fully understand this.

The middle class is really getting the squeeze and my understanding is it's disappearing.

Hopefully we will get some sort of leadership soon, because it's not looking real good at this time.

What is torqueing me off at the moment is the lastest plan to use money appropriated for TARP for other purposes, because it's actually getting paid back early. WTF? I don't see how it's legal for the administration to use money appropriated by Congress for any other purpose, unless Congress REAPPROPRIATES. The money should have to go back to reduce the original borrowing, and then a separate appropriations bill should have to be passed - so that is is publicly debated upon and our elected officials are held accountable. If the Bush administration had of tried that, you'd heard Dems screaming bloody murder about it. But now that it's the "Messiah' doing it, all you hear from the left is a pin drop....

Oh, yeah, and were is Code Pink now that the President has put more troops in Afganistan? (in this case, I think he's found out it's not as easy as it looks and almost appears hypocritical - but I think he did the right thing).

This is gonna weigh heavily on the 2010 mid terms. Alot of moderates who stood on the fence the last time are going to now figure out that they made a BIG mistake - Change YOU (not me) did believe in!

Don't Tase me Bro!

Tea Party people are nothing more than FOX news aficionados; simply another example of right wing Obama bashers.. Fed up and willing to stand up only after we have an other than anglo president. ???

If you honestly believe this is a "racially" motivated issue? you are not even in the argument.... That is nothing more than a disconnect from the real issues..

You need to go watch re-runs of the muppet show, let the adults figure out how to save a country in big trouble...

Now if we can find some adults....

Evidence collection, receipting, the list goes on and on. It shouldn't even go to the jury, but be thrown out on motions made by their lawyers. Oh well. Guess we'll have to wait and see.

Did you see the Miranda arguments this AM
